OF- 291* ^^[HEO. ARTHUR BURROWS,-*-M. P. P., Winnipeg, Man., seniormember of the firm of Burrows & Hall,lumber merchants, was born in Ottawa,August 1 5th, 1857. His parents wereHenry J. Burrows and Sarah Sparks,both now deceased. Mr. Burrows waseducated at the Ottawa public schools,Collegiate Institute and Manitoba College,Winnipeg. Shortly after removingto Manitoba, he engaged in lumbering,and for many years did thelargest saw milling business on LakeWinnipeg. In 1890-91, he had chargeof construction of public works in thenorthern and northwestern part of theProvince, and after the last redistribution,when the northern part of theProvince was formed into the separateelectoral division of " Dauphin " waselected, in 1892, as its first representativein the Manitoba Legislature, as asupporter of the Green way Government.The County of Dauphin <strong>com</strong>prisesnearly one quarter of the whole area ofManitoba, and contains the greaterportion of the fertile land in the Provinceleft open for hoinesteading, andMr. Burrows representsitably in Parliament.He is a believer in Nationalschools, an advocate of Tariff Reform,and a staunch " Manitoba First " man.
