284ARNER GAHAN, M.A., M.D.,C.M., Hartney, Manitoba, wasborn April loth, 1860, in Cheshire,England. His parents were M. andEllen (Revell) Gahau, both Irish. Hisfather was head master of E. Smith'sschools, at Roscrea, Tipperary, Ireland,where the Doctor received his classicaleducation. He then attended the NormalSchools of Science, of South Kensington,London, Eng., for two years,then Queen's College, Galway, Ireland,as a science scholar for four years,where he obtained distinguished honors.He then spent two years more in theMedical Department of Queen's College,and took honors, after which he studiedat the Carinichael College of Medicine,Dublin, for two years, and graduatedwith honors from the Royal Universityof Ireland, (with which Queen'sis connected), in 1882. He came toWinnipeg, Man., in 1885, studied inthe Medical School. Winnipeg, from1890 to 1892, and graduated in theSpring of the latter year. He thentook charge of Dr. Thornton's practiceat Deloraiue, for one year, when hesettled in Hartney. He is a memberand examiner for the I.O.O.F., I.O.F.and C.O.F. He is an Episcopalian,and in politics, a Reformer.
