2)ARLOF*OTTO PAUL HENNE-( BERG, Musical Director, Winni-^ ~^^>peg, Man., was born inBobersberg, Germany, in 1863. Hisparents were Wilhelni and Wilhelmiene(Burdack) Henneberg, his father beinga leading musical director of Bobersberg.Mr. Henneberg received hisprimary education at home, after whichhe served three years in the Royal Army,and then finished his education at theRoyal High School, Berlin. At the ageof twenty-three, he went to Stockholm,as solo flute player, in the Orchestra ofthe Swedish Royal Opera, for one season,after which he was elected as musicaldirector of Gothenberg, Sweden,where he remained twoyears. In 1889, ne came toAmerica, and was invited tobe<strong>com</strong>e a member of the celebratedMendelssohn QuintetteClub of Boston, whichfor three years travelledthrough the chief cities ofthe United States and Canada,delighting the musicloving public. After severalvisits of the club toWinnipeg, Mr. Hennebergwas urged by many of theleading musical men of thatcity to locate there permanently,which he did in 1892.Since then he has conductedthe Apollo Club with greatsuccess. His services as aflute or violin soloist are inconstant demand, while asteacher of the piano and allstringed instruments, hispatronage among the bestpeople is very gratifying.Mr. Henneberg is perfectlyat home in music. Heseems to have inherited an273above the sometimes arid and dry,and his pupils frequently gather fromhim the same inspiration. Mr. Hennebergis doing much to improve thequality of the music of the Prairie City,and to cultivate a correct taste for thedivine art. As in other matters, thecitizens of Winnipeg,are not slow to appreciateso eminent a man in their midst,and his efforts have met with much success.In religion, he belongs to theGerman Holy Trinity Church. In1886, he was married to Miss AugustaHolm, daughter of the late CaptainHolm, of Gefle, Sweden. His familyconsists of one son and two daughters.aptness and love for it,which elevates his teaching
