271APT. JAMES WISH ART, St.Martin's, St. John County, N.B.,was born in the City of St.John, July nth, 1847. He is the sonof Benjamin Wishart, ship owner, andCharlotte Moran. His father camefrom Montrose, Scotland, and hismother was a native of New Brunswick.He received his early education in St.John and St. Martin's, and <strong>com</strong>pletedit in Liverpool, England, the last twoyears of it on Her Majesty's SchoolFrigate " Conway." He then went tosea, in the "Prince Rupert," in 1862,"and had <strong>com</strong>mand of the ship Henri-he also had <strong>com</strong>mand ofetta," in 1872 ;"the following vessels : Prince Patrick,"Prince Rudulph," Black''"Prince," " Prince " Louis," Rowland"Hill," "Roycroft," Macedon," thelatter being his last <strong>com</strong>mand before retiringfrom the service. He was tradingchiefly to the East India, Australia andSouth America Ports. He was married,in 1875, to Sophia, daughter of theRev. A. J. Smith, late of St. Martin's.His family consists of three children,living. In religion, he is a Presbyterian,and in politics, a Conservative.He is also a member of the MasonicOrder. Since retiring from the sea, in1887, he has been living in St. Martin's.
