249_X^URED. LAWRENCE SCHAFFjjNER, M.D., C.M., Boissevaiu,Man., was born August iSth,1854, in Williamston, N.S. His parentswere William C. and Azuba (Phinney)Schaffner. Dr. Schaffner received hiseducation at the Williamston publicschool, Truro Normal School, HortonAcademy, and Acadia University, graduatingB.A., from the latter, in June,1882, from which time, until 1884, hetaught school at Rapid City,He Manitoba.then attended Trinity MedicalSchool, Toronto, graduating in 1887,subsequently taking a Post graduatecourse in New York City. He settledat Boissevain shortly after graduation,and has been conducting a very successfulpractice there ever since. Hisgrandfather, Caleb Schaffner, was anoted Colonel in the Canadian forces.Dr. Schaffner is health officer, presidentof the Liberal-Conservative Associationof Boissevain, was the Conservativecandidate for the Local House in 1892.He was married, April iQth, 1887, toMiss Christina, daughter of J. D. Allan,Esq., now of Neepawa, Man. His familyconsists of one daughter. Dr.Schaffner is a P. M. Mason, and aPast Noble Grand in the I.O.O.F. Inhe is areligion,Baptist.
