Mott,chocolate and cocoa manufacturer. Heaccepted the opportunity, and in 1876,his name appeared as a member of thefirm, of which he has been an activemember ever since. His first businesswas on the road, at the outset throughthe Maritime Provinces only, then intoQuebec and Ontario, and in the lateryears of his travels, in the western partof Canada only. His attention at firstwas confined chiefly to the confectioners'trade, with which he was soon successfulin securing for the preparationshe represented a leadingposition. Since thedeath of Mr. Mott, in 1890,Mr. Allison has been in hispresent position of managerand executor of the estate,which is above three-quartersof a million of dollars invalue. He holds severalresponsible positions in financial,<strong>com</strong>mercial and insuranceinstitutions. He isa director of the New GlasgowIron, Coal and RailwayCo., the Eastern Fire AssuranceCo., and the NovaScotia Coastal Steam PacketCo., and is president of theNova Scotia PermanentBenefit Building Societyand Savings Fund, which isone of the oldest monetaryinstitutions in the MaritimeProvinces. In politics, heis a Liberal-Conservative,and in religion a member ofthe Church of England. Hewas married in 1876, to Missdaughter ofMary Prescott,the late Charles T. Prescott,Esq., of Baie Verte, N. B.
