(McLea) Macrae;his father being a Presbyterian Clergyman,whose biography appears in thisvolume. His paternal grandfather wasa clergyman of the Church of Scotland,well known as a polemic writer, in thedays of the disruption. His maternalgrandfather, the Hon. Kenneth McLea,was a prominent merchant of St. John's,Newfoundland, and a member of theLegislative Council of that colony. Hereceived his education at the <strong>com</strong>monschools of N.S. and N.B., graduatingfrom Dalhousie College, Halifax, B.A.,in 1886, matriculated with high honorsinto the University of London, Eng.,in 1887, and passed the intermediateL.L.B. examination of that institution,in 1889. He afterwards graduatedA.M., from Harvard University. Hewas mathematical teacher in the St.John Grammar School, for about ayear and a half, and was called to theBar in Oct., 1889. He is a member ofthe Masonic Order, K. of P., Orange Association,I. O.K., and St. Andrew's Society.In politics, he is a Liberal-Conservative,and in religion, a Presbyterian.16
