MEN 231JAMESALBERT KAULBACHM.A., Archdeacon of NovaScotia, Canon of St. Luke'sCathedral, and Vicar of Truro, N.S.,was born at Lunenburg, N.S., August3Oth, 1839. His parents were JohnHenry and Sophia Fredericka (Newman)Kaulbach. His father was HighSheriff of the County of Lunenburg,N.S., for 56 years, and his grandfather,Henry Kaulbach was also Sheriff forthirty years, prior to that. Mr. Kaulbackwas educated at King's College,Windsor, N.S., and was ordained deaconin Halifax, in 1864, by Bishop Binney,and priest in 1865. He thenserved five and one half years at RiverJohn, Pictou County, N.S., and thenremoved to Truro, in 1870, where hehas since remained. The Archdeaconis a man of sterling parts, of great influencein his church, and widely esteemedas an able minister and Christiangentleman. His scholarly attainments,genial spirit and brilliant parts, accountfor his success and popularity, and hisnumerous friends hope that his usefullifemay be long spared. He wasmarried in 1876, to Miss Mary SophiaBradshaw, daughter of Jas. T. Bradshaw,Esq., of Quebec. His familyconsists of one son.
