FATHER WILLIAMBOLLARD, St. Stephen, CharlotteCounty, N.B., was bornin Kilkenny, Ireland, May ist, 1861.He is the son of Michael Bollard andAnastasia Quinn, both of Kilkenny.His father was a nephew of the firstBishop of New Brunswick, the RightRev. William Bollard, B.B., and hismother was a sister of the late Revds.James and Edmond Quinn, of the dioceseof St. John, N.B., who laboredthere for a number of years. FatherBollard received his early education atthe schools of the city of Waterford, Irelandand St. John's College, Waterford,graduating from that college with firstclasshonors, but being too young forordination, he came to St. John andtaught for one year, when he enteredLaval University, Quebec, and afterremaining there for some time, he wasordained Beacon by Archbishop (nowCardinal) Taschereau, and afterwardsPriest by Bishop Sweeney, at the Cathedral,in the city of St. John, inJanuary, 1884. He then remained withthe Bishop, at the Cathedral, for threeyears, when he was given charge of thenewly organized parish of St. Stephen,where he still continues, and lives inthe affection of his parishioners.
