193yrLBERT MITCHELL PERRIN,V born at New Glasgow, Pictou_X\ M.D., Yarmouth, N.S., wasCounty, N.S., in 1849. O 11 h* 5 paternalside, he is of Huguenot extraction.His great-grandfather wasone of the founders of the county inwhich he was born. His mother, nowdeceased, was Anna Darby Burns, anative of the North of Ireland. He isalso a nephew of Dr. S. W. Burns,Shelburne, and of Rev'ds. William andJames Burns, of Chicago,111. Dr.Perrin received his early education inthe schools of Pictou, after which heentered the New York Medical University,in 1867, from whichinstitution he received hisdiploma in 1873. He thensettled in the town of Shelburne,N.S., succeeding thelate Dr. Snyder, where he remainedfor three years. Hethen returned to New York,taking up special studiesas post graduate. In theSpring of 1878, he settledin Yarmouth, N.S., as generalpractitioner, althoughmaking a speciality of thediseases of women and children,also of the eye, ear,throat and nose, and inthese specialities, has hadmarked success. The Summersucceeding his removalto Yarmouth, he was appointedto the position ofport surgeon, and medicalsuperintendent of MarineHospital, which position hehas held since that date.Dr. Perrin was married, in1876, to Mary, daughterW. ofH. Gridley, Esq., ofYarmouth, N.S., and greatgrand daughter of GeneralRichard Gridley, of distinguishedRevolutionary mention. Hisfamily consists of one son. In politics,he is a staunch Conservative, havingthe courage of his convictions, and, ina county essentially Liberal, has stoodboldly for his party. In religion, hebelongs to the Episcopalian Church.He is also a member of Hiram Lodge,A.F. & A.M., and of Union RoyalArch Chapter, and Yarmouth Preceptoryof Knight Templars, and I.O.O.F.In 1879, he was appointed Coroner ofthe town, and a member of the Boardof Health. In 1882, he was elected amember of the Medical Board of NovaScotia.13
