MKN OF" 191JOHN LOUISCARLETON,Barrister-at-Law, St. John,N.B.,was born October ist, 1861, atSt. John. His parents were Williamand Bridget Carleton. He received hiseducation at the Christian Brothers'School, St. John, and then enteredupon the study of law, was admitted, asattorney, in October, 1882, called to theBar in Michaelmas Term ofthe followingyear, and has since that time practicedhis profession in St. John, where he hassucceeded in building up an importantand remunerative clientage. He belongsto the Catholic Mutual BenefitAssociation, is president of Branch 134,and a member of the Executive of theGrand Council of Canada. He is alsoan official referee in Equity, appointedby the Provincial Government. Mr.Carleton has made rapid progress inhis profession, having, very early inlife, reached a desirable standing amonghis fellows in law, and his past successeswould indicate for him a brilliantfuture. In politics, he is an influentialLiberal, and takes a lively interest inpolitical affairs. In religion, he is aRoman Catholic. He was married,September 22nd, 1886, to Teresa G.Sharkey, daughter of Peter and AnnSharkey.
