+r^^n[HE HON. JOHN DONALDA CAMERON, B. A., Barrister,Provincial Secretary for Manitoba, Winnipeg,Man., was born in 1858, in theTownship of East Nissouri, Oxford Co.,and Eliza-of Scottish descent. HeOnt. He is the son of Johnbeth Cameron,was educated at the Woodstock HighSchool, Woodstock College and St.Catharines Collegiate Institute, and atUniversity College, Toronto, where hegraduated, in 1879, with first-classhonors in both the Science and the Artscourses, winning the Gold Medal ineach. He then studied law in Toronto,and was called to the Ontario Bar in1882, and to that of Manitoba in thesame year.In January, 1892, he waselected to represent South Winnipeg inthe Local Legislature, in place of Mr.Isaac Campbell, Q. C., who had resigned,and was re-elected at the GeneralElections in July of the same year.In January, 1893, he was sworn in amember of the Executive Council, holdingthe offices of Provincial Secretaryand Municipal Commissioner, and wasafterwards re-elected by acclamation.Mr. Cameron is a Liberal in politics,and has always been an able and trustedleader of his party. In religion hebelongs to the Presbyterian Church.
