CANADA. 143^H,OHN WEMYSS, M.A.,Glasgow,Barrister, Solicitor, etc.,Neepawa, Manitoba, was bornAugust 1 8th, 1861, at Glasgow, Scotland.His parents were Robert andCatherine K. Wemyss, the former beinga prominent wholesale merchant. Mr.Wemyss received his early education inLarchfield and Academy, Helensburgh,Glasgow Academy, carrying offthe gold medal at the latter place. In1877 he visited Canada and the UnitedStates, and returned the same year toScotland to enter Glasgow University,where he graduated in 1882. Aboutsix months later he returned to Canada,settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and wasin the law office of Bain, Blanchard ccMulock until 1887. He was admittedto the Bar in 1886. In April, 1887, heestablished a law office in Neepawa,where he enjoys a large and steadilyincreasing clientage. Mr. Wemyss wasappointed solicitor for Neepawa in 1888 ;he has also been solicitor for the municipalityof Langford, since its formation.In politics, he is an Independent, andin religion, a staunch Presbyterian. Heis also a member of the A.F. & A.M.and a past grand in the I.O.O.F. Mr.Wemyss is a typical Scotchman, andone of Manitoba's foremost citizens.
