119,EV. WALTER J. DOODY,Annapolis, N.S., was born June_ 3rd, 1868, at Aglish Mooncoin,County Kilkenny, Ireland. Heis the son of Edmund and Margaret(Phelan) Doody, the former now deceased.He began his education atCarrigeen, Kilkenny County, and commencedhis classical education at theCollege School, Waterford County,Waterford, Ireland. He studied Philosophyand Theology at St. John's College,Waterford. He received the minor ordersfrom the late Bishop Egan, andcoming to Canada in July, 1890, wasordained to the priesthood by ArchbishopO'Brien, December yth, of thesame year, at St. Mary's Cathedral,Halifax. He then spent nine monthsunder Rev. Dr. Murphy, as juniorcurate, and in October, 1891, took chargeof St. Louis Church, Parish of Annapolis.Father Doody has certainly receivedprominent attention at the handsof his church, at the very outset of hisministry, and is to be congratulated onthe possession of those qualities of headand heart, which have brought him sospeedily to the front. His future appearsto be full of promise, and hismany friends hope that his useful lifemay be long spared.
