100 CANADA.,BV. GEO. SEELEY, retired BaptistMinister, "The Birches,"Englewood, Petitcodiac, WestmorelandCounty, N.B., was born atHeKinsale, Ireland, February, 1834.is the son of Geo. Seeley and EllenHowe, a relative of Lord Howe. Mr.Seeley received his early education atthe public schools, and Mill's PrivateCommercial and Scientific Academy,St. John, N.B., and subsequently studiedtheology. He was ordained at Carlton,St. John, in 1854, and received acall to the Baptist Church, Carl ton,remaining nearly four years. He thenspent one year in Fredericton, supplying,after which he located in Woodstock,N.B., remaining for ten years.He then became pastor of the FirstBaptist Church, Salisbury for five years,and then for four years served theChurch at Harvey, Albert County, andthe following three years, St. Andrew's,Charlotte County. He also did goodwork at Newcastle, Sheffield, Elginand Petitcodiac, after which he retired,although he is stilldoing very activeand acceptable service. He was married,July ist, 1858, to May Newcombe,daughter of the late ReubenCowperthwaite, Esq., of Majorville,He N.B.has one son living.
