A short walktakes us next to misty Kapena falls, where you will view ancientHawaiian petroglyphs (rock carvings) near the bank of Alapena pool,and learn the legend of Kaupe, the ancient guardian spirit that is saidto protect travelers at this unique place.We venture next to Queen Liliuokalani Botanic Garden, whereyou will learn about endemic Hawaii an plant species <strong>on</strong> the groundsof this former Hawaiian M<strong>on</strong>arch’s home near a scenic waterfall. Ournext stop is Foster Botanical Garden, where your professi<strong>on</strong>al naturalistguide will describe the unique tropical plants such as cacao,pepper, cinnam<strong>on</strong> and allspice trees. See the famous Foster orchid collecti<strong>on</strong>,as well as the “Bo Tree”, grown from a cutting of the originaltree planted in India 800 years ago by the first Dalai Lama.
