Description of the systemAstra Tech implant system is part of Astra Tech Dental. The system comprises dentalimplants, cover screws, transmucosal abutments, other restorative components, as well assurgical and restorative instruments. Astra Tech implant system components may only beused together with original products and instruments.2. Description of the productZirDesign is a two-piece transmucosal component, intended for cement-retained restorations.ZirDesign is made of yttria-stabilized zirconia, and can through preparation be customizedto meet high individual anatomical and esthetic demands.The abutment has an external hexagonal interface that provides indexing.It has a conical relation into the implant, which enables a tight and stable connection betweenthe components – Conical Seal Design.The pre-designed prosthetic margin is situated one millimeter more coronal on the lingualthan on the buccal side. The buccal side is indicated by a flat orientation and anti-rotationsurface.It comes with a hex feature in the implant interface, which provides for indexing.Different profiles, diameters and heights of ZirDesign abutments are available to meetdifferent clinical situations.3. MaterialsZirDesign Abutment: Yttria-stabilized zirconia (Y-TZP).Abutment Screw Design: Ti-alloy, grade 55. IndicationsZirDesign is used in single tooth and partially edentulous situations for cement-retainedrestorations in the anterior and premolar regions.ZirDesign is not recommended for use in the molar regions.6. ContraindicationsThere are no absolute contraindications for treatment with ZirDesign abutments besidesthe ones that are applicable for implant surgery in general.

Package and storageZirDesign abutment is packed together with an Abutment Screw Design.The product is non-sterile and should be disinfected and sterilized before installation.The components must be stored, in their package, in a dry place, at normal room temperature.9. DocumentationTo ensure traceability, we recommend that the removable label on the package is attachedto the patient record.Note: ZirDesign is covered by a 2-year warranty.

Handling Procedures1. Remove the Healing Abutment using the Hex Screwdriver. Attach the implant pickupor implant transfer to the implant. Tighten the pin firmly.2. Take the impression using a customized impression tray and an elastic impressionmaterial.3. Attach the implant replica on the implant pick-up or implant transfer and tightenthe pin.4. Fabricate a working model with removable gingival modeling material.5. Select and try-in the appropriate abutment on the model. Always use the laboratoryabutment screws for non-clinical use.6. Mount the abutment with an implant replica in the Grinding Handle and modifythe abutment. NOTE: Use water cooling during grinding to avoid micro-cracks.7. Fabricate the superstructure on the modified abutments.8. Clean and sterilize* the ZirDesign abutments and abutment screws before connectingthem to the implants and tighten the abutment screws. Perform a try-inof the superstructure. Always use new abutment screws in the clinical situation(co-packed with the abutment). Cement the final restoration on the abutments. Forthe best esthetic result, the all-ceramic crown is preferably seated with glass-ionomeror composite cement.*Cleaning and sterilizationAbutment: The abutment should be cleaned, preferably in an ultrasonic bath with amixture of dishwashing detergent and water.Do not autoclave the abutment. The process can affect the mechanical properties ofthe zirconia. A cold sterilization procedure is recommended.Abutment screw: The screw should be cleaned, preferably in an ultrasonic bathwith a mixture of dishwashing detergent and water. Steam sterilization with a prevacuumcycle.Temperature: 134°C/273°F. Exposure time: 3 minutes.Recommended installation torque for the ZirDesign Abutments:3.5/4.0 Aqua : 20 Ncm4.5/5.0 Lilac : 25 Ncm
