The loginwindow that appears on your computer will be for your e-mail software.To send the item over the Internet, drag it onto your Internet e-mail linkicon, such as the Netscape Navigator e-mail icon (as shown to the left).Note: Instead of using the link icons from Desktop View, you canalso choose Links from the File menu, <strong>and</strong> then choose the name ofyour e-mail or Internet e-mail software. The software opens, <strong>and</strong> youcan send the item as an attachment to an e-mail message.SENDING A SELF-VIEWING FILE USING AN E-MAIL LINKSometimes you want to send an item to another person who does notown <strong>PaperPort</strong> or the application that created a non-<strong>PaperPort</strong> item. Forexample, you might want a co-worker to review a memo you wroteusing Word or you might want to share the information in a capturedWeb page with a friend. With the Save As Self Viewing format you caneasily attach an item (both <strong>PaperPort</strong> <strong>and</strong> non-<strong>PaperPort</strong>) to an e-mailmessage as a self-viewing file. The recipient of the message simplydouble-clicks the attachment to view the file.You can create a self-viewing file from black-<strong>and</strong>-white, grayscale, <strong>and</strong>color images. If the image contains any annotations, they also appear onthe image.Tip: To automatically convert all e-mail attachments to self-viewingfiles, select the Convert All Files When Possible option <strong>and</strong> the SelfViewing Files format option from the Links preferences for youre-mail link application.To create an e-mail message <strong>and</strong> attach a self-viewing file:1. In Desktop View, select the item you want to attach to the e-mailmessage.2. From the File menu, choose Export.The Export As dialog box appears.
