50 CHAPTER 4: STACKING PAPERPORT ITEMSTo select multiple items:• Click each thumbnail while holding down the Shift key or theCtrl key.or• Click an empty space on the <strong>PaperPort</strong> Desktop; then drag the mousearound the items that you want to select. Any item that is partiallyenclosed in the box, or that the box even touches, will be selected.Release the mouse button when the items you want are selected.GIVING TITLES TO ITEMS AND STACKSWhen you first scan or create a new item on the <strong>PaperPort</strong> Desktop, itstitle is the current date. If you prefer, you can change the format of thepredefined date title, or define a custom title to use for all new items.You can also change an individual title to something more descriptive,such as “Smithers Contract” or “Letter to Dr. Adams.” You can use asmany as 30 characters for a title. The more descriptive the title, theeasier it is to quickly find the item you want.In addition to item titles, each page in a stack can have a title. You canchoose to display the title of only the stack or the title of the stack <strong>and</strong>each page title in the stack.The stack title <strong>and</strong> page titles both appear above the stack so that as youflip through the pages of a stack you can see each page’s title as well asthe stack title.The stack title isin boldface type.The page title isin normal type.As you flip throughthe pages, eachpage’s title appears.
