Vishnu in his most loving form with a charmingsmile on his face, adorned with glitteringjewels, wearing yellow attire and riding onGaruda manifested there. Jumping with joy,the cowherd burst into a joyous song:“Oh dark-complexioned Lord riding on thewhite eagle!Oh my Beloved Father!Out of your compassion, you have come!”Singing this song, he offered his salutationsto the Lord. In the meantime, a celestial chariotdescended from heaven. At the command ofthe Lord, the cowherd ascended the chariotand fl ew away. All those present there werewonderstruck to see this grand spectacle.God always listens to the devotees’ prayersmade with deep devotion and total faith, andgrants their wishes. He perceives the deepyearning hidden behind their prayers. He doesnot take notice of external show of devotion.The spiritual practitioner fi rst of all learnsabout the form and attributes of God by readingThe cowherd burst into a joyous song whenLord Vishnu manifested before him in hismost loving form.sacred texts or by hearing from his Guru. This iscalled Jnatum, meaning knowing. By refl ectingand contemplating on the form or attributesover a period of time, he can have the directvision of God and can attain satisfaction. Thisis called Drashtum, meaning seeing. But fullsatisfaction is derived only by total mergerwith God. This is called Praveshtum, meaningmerger.62 February <strong>2010</strong>
