UNDER 18Ben HodgesThe Snow Dogs finished off a bit of a disappointingyear on a high note last weekend, when they camefrom behind and snatched a draw against finalscontender Werribee. The Snow dogs were downall day and seemed to be out of it early in the thirdquarter. To their credit they fought back kickingfour goals to one in the last to shock the tigersand nearly steal victory in the final minutes of thegame! For St Bernards, Michael Hughes kicked 3while Daniel Thompson did the job. It was a greatcredit to a team who seemed to struggle at times,but also showed promise at times. The Snowdogswill be back and ready to go next year looking tobring in some good youngsters! For the Tigers,there season is not over, starting finals this weekagainst the Krushers. The Tigers will be lookingto find some of their earlier form in what will bea cracker of a game! For Werribee, Dillon Taylorkicked 4 and played his part while Joel Patty didthe job for the Snow dogs.Rupertswood beat UHS at Sunbury in adisappointing last game. The boys from Rupoopened up the game kicking seven goals to onein the first quarter to show their strength and putsome doubt into Williamstown who they face intheir Second Semi final. The rest of the game was played on goodterms with both teams playing well at differentpoints in the game. The score line didn’t quitereflect how both teams played and their efforts.Hopefully the UHS boys will come back nextyear and maybe it could be their year with somequality players growing into the new competition.For UHS the big Shaq played a good game,helping the team where needed while BenjaminAnderson was best on. For Rupertswood they takeon Williamstown in what should be great game atSt Bernards College. Rupertswood will be lookingfor the likes of Mitch Wilson, Damon Cerini andJason Dunn to play their role along with everyoneelse in this years finals series.In the last game Trent Dimitriou stole theSharpshooter award from team mate JaydenCostello in their round 18 mauling of a haplessTherry Penola. The first quarter saw Willy kickeight goals to one, and looked a very solid unitleading into the finals. Therry Penola, despitehaving a few good wins, might be glad the year isover and they can rebuild for next year where theywill be looking to make some inroads into the tophalf of the competition. For the Lions, Tim Gumleydid his part for the side while Sam Calafiore alsoplayed well. For Williamstown, they look to nextweeks clash with the all conquering Rupertswoodside, and will be looking to make a big impact intheir first finals series. Congratulations must alsogo to the very powerful unit of Trent Dimitriouand Jayden Costello, who looked on track for bothplayers to win the Coleman, unfortunately Trentkicked a lazy eight goals to steal victory fromhis partner in crime.
