Rising StarOld Scotch - Nick JamiesonNick Jamieson of Old Scotch is this week’s Rising Star.Nick played his junior football with East Malvern Junior FC and wasalso an important member of the Scotch College 1st XVIII.In 2010, he played several under 19 games around school footballcommitments, and impressed with his composure and awarenessaround goal. Nick was hopeful that the under 19 side could make thefinals in 2011, but when their finals aspirations were extinguished,he focused his attention on securing a berth in the Senior side.Nick plays with plenty of natural flair and confidence, an unusualattribute for a young player. He is explosive off the mark and hasalready become an important part of the Old Scotch Senior sidein his few senior games. Nick hopes that he can consolidate hisposition in the 1st XVIII over the next few years, and that he will bepart of a young, enthusiastic and successful Old Scotch team.To be eligible for the weekly award, players must be born on or after 1 July 1989 and must not have played a fullseason of VAFA senior football prior to 2011. All players born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible, regardless ofprevious experience.VAFA BEIERSDORFTRAINER OF THE WEEKSarah Pennell – University BlacksSarah is now in her third year as a Trainer at Blacks, having joinedin 2009 as part of her studies in Clinical Myotherapy, particularly inthe areas of injury management and rehabilitation. Sarah combinesthis role with her work in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainerand Group Exercise Instructor. Sarah works mainly with the Seniorteam and, along with fellow trainers, is held in very high regardby all at Blacks. And just for something different, she and fellowtrainer Kate Longden ran the Gold Coast marathon earlier this year,their first attempt at this distance. In October, Sarah will run theMelbourne half-marathon and help raise money for Challenge – anorganization that supports children with cancer.
