faced with an exciting and challenging task. The brand had enormous 

potential, but had stretched your patience more than enough due to 

supply problems. 

I would therefore like to thank you very much for your trust in us and 

your support! In order to be a reliable and sound partner for you in 

the future, we have set ourselves values that we apply with heart and 

soul. As well as our high standards of quality in finish, development 

and design and our return to traditions of craftsmanship, service plays 

a prominent role here. Because we are striving for long-term cooperation

give you this brochure, which shows the world of Mountain Force

The Swiss premium brand Mountain Force was founded in 2006 

and specializes in the development and production of high quality 

snow sports clothing. There is no way anyone involved in ski sport 

who values optimal coordination of design, fit and function can avoid 

Mountain Force. 

When Roman Stepek took over the reins of the Swiss ski clothing 

manufacturer Mountain Force at the end of 2010 it was a promising 

start for the company, located at that time in beautiful einsiedeln, but 

the right spark was still missing. Mountain Force was scarcely known 

outside Switzerland; only a handful of retailers in Germany and 

austria stocked their range and gave the newcomer from Switzerland 

a chance. However, insiders already sensed that Stepek’s arrival would 

introduce fresh new impetus to the firm. Within the sector Stepek is 

regarded as one of the most imaginative and experienced thinkers in 

the area of functional clothing. 

It was his many years of experience working in textiles which was the 

most helpful to the textiles specialist. For almost ten years he helped 

establish and headed businesses producing sportswear in asia, initially 

in Laos and later in Bangladesh. In Laos he got two factories with over 

2,800 employees up and running for the Hong Kong manufacturer 

KTc Limited. These relationships proved to be invaluable to Stepek 

today with Mountain Force. Today, KTc Limited is one of the most 

prestigious international manufacturers of premium functional clothing. 

When it comes to innovation, craftsmanship and fit, KTC companies 

offer the highest level of quality while also shipping punctually. 

These testimonials instill confidence and at the same time arouse high 

expectations for the future.

In joining the organization Fairwear 2011 Mountain Force emphasizes 

this aspiration and is clearly placed as a premium supplier with a social 

conscience. What plans are there for the future? What does Mountain 

Force want to do differently from existing labels that are active in 

winter sport? unlike other labels, Mountain can weigh in with expert 

knowledge from the entire textile supply chain. Take the example of 

fabric development. “In contrast to the usual practice in our sector, 

we don’t rely on new products from major manufacturers but instead 

start the development process right at the beginning of the production 

chain,” says Roman Stepek. Thus, rather than waiting for the cloth 

manufacturers to develop new ideas, Mountain Force prefers to initiate 

its own ideas and implement its own textile innovations in cooperation 

with fabric manufacturers. For example, Mountain Force worked 

together with a padding supplier to develop elastic padding material 

and in this way closed the last “stretch gap.” In keeping with our 

freedom of movement credo, Mountain Force had been using 4-way 

stretch material in outer fabrics and linings for a long time – only the 

warm lining was not stretchy and thus a perpetual source of irritation 

to Stepek. But there are innovations not only in the materials used, 

but also in processing. Some seams are sonically welded, which makes 

them especially stretchy, thin, light and watertight. A flexible ceramic 

membrane provides an optimal microclimate because cold is reflected 

outwards and warmth inwards. 

Since taking over Stepek has gotten the company on the right track on 

every front. Mountain Force now performs very well in terms of shipments, 

reliable customer support, a highly skilled sales department and 

newly organized marketing department, and is being marketed in 12 

countries – and the trend is up.

Highly breathable, waterproof and all-round tensile and soundless 

ceramic membrane. The ceramic coated membrane reflects body heat 

inwards and the cold external temperatures outwards. The thermal 

bridge (cold and wet sensation) is thus considerably reduced.

The highly elastic, abrasion-resistant nylon material – equipped with 

a nanotech coating – allows snow and water to roll off and dirt can 

be simply wiped off.

trousers being affected by dirt particles and prolong the life of 

your premium skiwear. 

Please note that skiwear from Mountain Force is extremely easy 

to clean:

If the beading effect (waterproofing) diminishes, you can use a 

waterproofing spray from Nikwax (TX.Direct).

To ensure that the down performance as well as the heat retention 

capacity is not lost during washing and drying, Mountain Force 

recommends complying with the following instructions. 

for washing you will nEEd: 

• down washing powder – Mountain Force particularly 

recommends the products from the company nikwax 

4 down laundry balls

warning: please do not use a complete laundry detergent 

under any circumstances and do not use fabric softener 

•

place 4 down laundry balls in the machine with this, so that 

the down will be kneaded correctly 

wash temperature max. 30°c 

for best results wash on a gentle cycle – but certainly with a 

wash programme with spin cycle 

after rinse and spin, carry out another rinse and spin cycle, so 

that all residues of the washing powder are rinsed out 

repeat the last spin cycle, as the down absorbs many times its 

own weight in water 

for drying you will nEEd: 

• a tumble dryer with the largest possible drum

warning: do not under any circumstances hang the jacket 

out to dry after washing! Simply air-drying and shaking up is not 

sufficient. The down would clump together. The down clumps can no 

longer be separated by washing again and drying in a tumble dryer. 

The jacket is then useless.

the moist down that is stuck to itself through washing 

dry at the highest temperature (max. 100°c) for 60 minutes

dry again for 60 minutes on the highest setting (max. 100°c) 

then leave the jacket to cool again and check the cold jacket 

for remaining moisture by kneading intensively. WaRnInG: 

the jacket must be checked when cold. When warm it can 

appear dry even when the down filling is still wet!

clothing. We are always helpful in connection with this and react very 

quickly in guarantee cases. 

We can also fulfil almost every request for alterations: from repair 

work after the end of the guarantee period to the shortening of 

trousers and sleeves to making trousers made-measure. Here too, 

we offer Mountain Force customers an outstanding and fast service.

KTc Limited was incorporated in Hong Kong, in June of 1971. 

The idea was to supply garments of the highest quality to brands in 

europe, uSa and Japan. 

In 1975 KTc was able to start business with adidas. Based on the 

excellent performance KTc for many years became the exclusive 

supplier to adidas, then still a family business, for garments made in 

Hong Kong, Thailand and china. In 1981 Rondor enterprises was 

established, a garment factory in Sha Ping, Heshan, Guangdong, 

china, producing rainwear for adidas. KTc then expanded into the 

manufacture of skiwear, outerwear and sportswear. In 1996 another 

garment factory, called Trio, was founded in Vientiane, Laos, for the 

production of knitted and woven sportswear. Trio is now specialized in 

making work wear exclusively for a leading German work wear brand, 

again a family business. 

It has been a 40-year adventure, where KTc has always invested in 

knowledge, technology and craft. KTc constantly strives to lead in 

the “art of Performance Manufacture”. Hans Kremmel, founder of 

KTc, about the philosophy: “at KTc we know that we are only as 

good as the people who work for us. We will only be the best if we 

employ the finest talent. Our people make us what we are.” That is 

why KTc is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, and the reason 

why KTc supports Fair Wear’s mission to improve labour conditions 

across the industry. To this end, KTc invests in the education of his 

workforce and their children. For many years now KTc has supported 

local schools and paid the fees for the education of many pupils and 

students in Heshan. KTc is one of the main sponsors of a privately 

funded primary school located opposite the factory in Vientiane, Laos 

as well as a secondary school close by.

Foundation 

The Swiss manufacturer of high quality ski wear, Mountain Force, 

joined Fair Wear Foundation in august 2011. Fair Wear Foundation’s 

(FWF’s) goal is to promote fair working conditions throughout the 

clothing industry worldwide. 

ceo Roman Stepek was very pleased about the step: “Quality, service 

and a clear sense of social responsibility is vital for Mountain Force 

both within our company and among our partners. Joining Fair Wear 

Foundation enables us to continuously monitor as well as improve 

and thus to convey to our production plants what the Mountain Force 

brand stands for.” 

As an independent nonprofit organization, the FWF has set itself 

the goal of improving working conditions in factories throughout the 

international clothing industry. all members are committed to comply 

with and supervise a special code of conduct established for member 

companies, the “code of Labor Practice.” The key points include that 

the workers must not be forced to work, no discrimination of workers, 

no child labor, freedom of association and collective bargaining, 

a wage covering the cost of living, no excessive hours as well as safe 

and healthy working conditions. Moreover, members ensure that all 

companies in the supply chain observe the code of conduct. However, 

FWF supports its members not only by providing advice but also by 

regularly checking their progress. The results will be made available on 

www.fairwear.org. The organization is backed by the fashion industry, 

trade unions and a range of non-governmental organizations. FWF’s 

70 member companies represent around 100 brands, and are based in 

seven european countries. Production is monitored in 15 countries in 

asia, europe and africa.
