All electric heat units are listed withETL as an assembly and carry the cETL label.All units comply with the latest edition of ARI Standard440 for testing and rating fan coil units, are certified,and display the ARI symbol.High Efficiency motors, fan relays, disconnects andfusing mean easier coordination between mechanicaland electrical trades.Coil options allow for three or four row chilled water orDX cooling coils. One or two row hot water or standardsteam coils may be placed in the preheat or reheatposition.All units are thoroughly inspected and tested prior toshipment, eliminating potential problems at startup.Motor wiring is brought to a junction box on the outsideof the unit casing, reducing electrical hook-up time.Plenum units are field reversible for either rear or bottomreturn without special adapters, tools or additionalparts.All HL Series fan coil units have the option of a hingedcover electrical enclosure in the bottom of the unit. Theexpansive compartment allows for easy access to allelectrical components, terminal blocks and wiring.Factory furnished valve packages assure proper fit,operation and performance.For fast track jobs, the HL Series fan coil is availableon Quick Ship with 5, 10 or 15 day lead times.QUALITY PRODUCTConcealed Model HL Series fan coil units are built fromgalvanized steel. This metal surpasses the ASTM 125hour salt spray test for corrosion and rust. ExposedModel HLE cabinetry is powder coated galvannealedsteel.Standard insulation is 1/2 inch thick fiberglass, complyingwith UL 181 and NFPA 90A. Optional foil faced or elastomericclosed cell foam insulation may be specified.All units, with or without electric heat, are cETL listedand labeled. This compartmenthouses all electric heat and control components.Terminal strips are furnished for simple power andcontrol wiring connections. Multiple knockouts allowwiring entries from either side of the compartment.DRAIN PANStandard drain pans are externally insulated, single wallgalvanized steel with an option for stainless steel. Drainpans are available with secondary drain connection.On concealed models, the HL Series drain pan is easilyremovable for cleaning or reversing connections.TELESCOPING BOTTOM PANELThe telescoping bottom panel allows for fully recessingthe unit while permitting service access into the ceilingplenum. The architectural ceiling panel is finished witha durable powder coat paint.FILTERSOne inch throwaway filters are tight fitting to prevent airbypass. Filters are easily removable from the bottomthrough the access panel or plenum.COILSAll fan coils are available in 2 or 4 pipe configurations.The heating coil may be placed in the reheat or preheatposition. Fan curves on the following pages depict actual performance of each motor tap without any additional fan balance adjustment.Actual capacities which fall below each curve can be obtained by adding an adjustment device. Units should not berun prior to installation of downstream ductwork; otherwise, damage to the motor may result.2. ENVIRO-TEC ® Fan Coil Units are equipped with permanent split-capacitor (PSC) motors with three taps (High, Medium andLow) which provides variable horsepower outputs. Most often, size selections are conservative and actual CFM requirementsand/or external static pressure requirements are lower than those specified. In this case, the unit fan motor can be run at lowor medium tap, substantially reducing the operating cost of the unit.3. HL Fan-Coil Units Low-Profile, Horizontal Catalog: ET115.26-EG7 (908)GUIDE SPECIFICATIONSGENERALFurnish and install ENVIRO-TEC ® Model HL HorizontalConcealed Direct Drive Fan Coil Units where indicatedon the plans and in the specifications. Units shall becompletely factory assembled, tested and shipped asone piece. All units shall be capable of meeting orexceeding the scheduled capacities for cooling, heatingand air delivery. All unit dimensions for each model andsize shall be considered maximums. Units shall be ETLlisted in compliance with UL/ANSI Standard 1995, andbe certified as complying with the latest edition of ARIStandard 440.CONSTRUCTIONAll unit chassis shall be fabricated of heavy gaugegalvanized steel panels able to meet 125 hour saltspray test per ASTM B-117. All exterior panels shallbe insulated with 1/2" thick insulation with a maximumk value of .24 (BTU • in) / (hr • ft 2 • °F) and rated fora maximum air velocity of 5000 f.p.m. Insulation mustmeet all requirements of ASTM C1071 (includingC665), UL 181 for erosion, and carry a 25/50 ratingfor flame spread/smoke developed per ASTM E-84,UL 723 and NFPA 90A.All concealed units shall have a minimum 1-1/2" ductcollar on the discharge. Plenum and exposed unitsshall have a minimum 3/4" duct collar on the return.All exposed units shall have exterior panels fabricatedof galvannealed steel. The fan and filter bottomaccess panel shall be attached with quarter turn quickopen fasteners to allow for easy removal and accessfor service.Option: Provide foil faced insulation in lieu of standard.Foil insulation shall meet or exceed the requirementsstated above, and in addition meet ASTM StandardsC-665 and C-1136 for biological growth in insulation.Insulation shall be lined with aluminum foil, fiberglassscrim reinforcement, and 30 pound kraft paper laminatedtogether with a flame resistant adhesive. Allexposed edges shall be sealed to prevent any fibersfrom reaching the air stream.Option: Provide Elastomeric Closed Cell Foam Insulationin lieu of standard. Insulation shall conform to UL 181for erosion and NFPA 90A for fire, smoke and melting,and comply with a 25/50 Flame Spread and SmokeDeveloped Index per ASTM E-84 or UL 723. Additionally,insulation shall comply with Antimicrobial PerformanceRating of 0, no observed growth, per ASTM G-21.Polyethylene insulation is not acceptable.Unit mounting shall be by hanger brackets provided atfour locations. Hanger brackets shall include rubbergrommet isolators with brass eyelets for threaded rod.PAINTED FINISHAll painted cabinet exterior panels shall be finished witha heat cured anodic acrylic powder paint of the standardfactory color.SOUNDUnits shall have published sound power level datatested in accordance with ARI Standard 350-2000 (nonductedequipment) and ARI Standard 260-2001 (ductedequipment).FAN ASSEMBLYUnit fan shall be a dynamically balanced, forwardlycurved, DWDI centrifugal type constructed of 18 gaugezinc coated galvanized steel for corrosion resistance.Motors shall be high efficiency, permanently lubricatedsleeve bearing, permanent split-capacitor type with ULand CSA listed automatic reset thermal overload protectionand three separate horsepower taps. Single speedmotors are not acceptable.The fan assembly shall be easily removable for servicingthe motor and blower at, or away from the unit. Theentire fan assembly shall be able to come out of theunit by removing two screws and unplugging the motor.Plenum unit fan assemblies shall be easily servicedthrough an access panel provided.Option: Provide an electronic (SCR) fan speed controlleras an aid in balancing the fan capacity. The speedcontroller shall have a turn down stop to prevent thepossibility of harming the motor bearings, and incorporateelectrical noise suppression to minimize noise onthe incoming power lines.Option: Devices used to energize and de-energize(switch) fan speeds must be totally silent. Magnetic,mercury, and/or quiet relays and/or contactors are notacceptable.COILSAll cooling and heating coils shall optimize rows andfins per inch to meet the specified capacity. Coils shallhave seamless copper tubes and shall be mechanicallyexpanded to provide an efficient, permanent bondbetween the tube and fin. Fins shall have high efficiencyaluminum surface optimized for heat transfer, airpressure drop and carryover.ENVIRO-TEC 19

Catalog: ET115.26-EG7 (908)GUIDE SPECIFICATIONSHL Fan-Coil Units Low-Profile, HorizontalAll coils shall be hydrostatically tested at 450 PSIG airpressure under water, and rated for a maximum of 300PSIG working pressure at 200°F.Direct expansion cooling coils shall include a fixedorifice metering device. All evaporator coils shall befactory sealed and charged with a minimum 5 PSIGnitrogen or refrigerated dry air.Steam coils shall be standard steam type suitable fortemperatures above 35°F and 15 PSIG maximum workingpressure.Option: Coil casing shall be fabricated from StainlessSteel.All coils shall be provided with a manual air vent fittingto allow for coil venting.Option: Provide automatic air vents in lieu of manualair vents.Heating coils shall be furnished in the reheat or preheatposition on units with chilled water coils, or in the reheatposition for DX coils.DRAIN PANSPrimary condensate drain pans shall be single wall,heavy gauge galvanized steel for corrosion resistance,and extend under the entire cooling coil. Drain pansshall be of one-piece construction and be positivelysloped for condensate removal. Drain pans on concealedmodels shall be field reversible for right or lefthand connections.The drain pan shall be externally insulated with a fireretardant, closed cell foam insulation. The insulationshall carry no more than a 25/50 Flame Spread andSmoke Developed Rating per ASTM E-84 and UL 723and an Antimicrobial Performance Rating of 0, noobserved growth, per ASTM G-21.Option: Provide a single wall primary drain pan constructedentirely of heavy gauge stainless steel forsuperior corrosion resistance. Stainless steel drain pansshall be externally insulated and meet or exceed therequirements stated above.FILTERSAll plenum and exposed units shall be furnished with aminimum 1" nominal glass fiber throwaway filter. Filtersshall be tight fitting to prevent air bypass. Plenum unitfilters shall be easily removable from the bottom of theunit without the need for tools.Option: Provide unit with 1" pleated filter (MERV 6).ELECTRICALUnits shall be furnished with single point power connection.Provide an electrical junction box with terminal stripfor motor and other electrical terminations. The factorymounted terminal wiring strip consists of a multiple positionscrew terminal block to facilitate wiring terminationsfor the electric control valves and thermostats.Option: Provide a hinged electrical enclosure in thebottom of the unit for easy access to all electrical components,terminal blocks and wiring.ELECTRIC HEATFurnish an electric resistance heating assembly as anintegral part of the fan coil unit, with the heating capacity,voltage and kilowatts scheduled. The heaterassembly shall be designed and rated for installationon the fan coil unit without the use of duct extensionsor transitions, and be located in the unit as to notexpose the fan assembly to excessive leaving air temperaturesthat could affect motor performance.The heater and unit assembly shall be listed for zeroclearance and meet all NEC requirements, and be ETLlisted with the unit as an assembly in compliance withUL/ANSI Standard 1995.All heating elements shall be open coil type nichromewire mounted in ceramic insulators and located in aninsulated heavy gauge galvanized steel housing. Allelements shall terminate in a machine staked stainlesssteel terminal secured with stainless steel hardware forcorrosion resistance. The element support bracketsshall be spaced no greater than 3-1/2" on center. Allinternal wiring shall be rated for 105°C minimum.Option: Provide a secondary drain connection on theprimary drain pan for condensate overflow.20 ENVIRO-TEC

All heaters shallbe single stage.Option: Provide a manual reset secondary thermallimit.All units with electric heat shall have a bottom hingedelectrical enclosure for easy access and service to theelectrical components and wiring. An incoming linepower distribution block shall be provided and designatedto accept single point power wiring capable ofcarrying 125% of the calculated load current.Option: Devices used to energize and de-energize(switch) electric heat must be totally silent. Magnetic,mercury, and/or quiet relays and/or contactors are notacceptable.PIPING PACKAGESProvide a standard factory assembled valve pipingpackage to consist of a 2 or 3 way, on/off, motorizedelectric control valve and two ball isolation valves.Control valves are piped normally closed to the coil.Maximum entering water temperature on the controlvalve is 200°F, and maximum close-off pressure is 40PSIG (1/2") or 20 PSIG (3/4"). Maximum operatingpressure shall be 300 PSIG.Option: Provide 3-wire floating point modulating controlvalve (fail-in-place) in lieu of standard 2-position controlvalve with factory assembled valve piping package.Option: Provide high pressure close-off actuators for2-way on/off control valves. Maximum close-off pressureis 50 PSIG (1/2") or 25 PSIG (3/4)".Option: Provide either a fixed or adjustable flow controldevice for each piping package.Option: Provide pressure-temperature ports for eachpiping package.Piping package shall be completely factory assembled,including interconnecting pipe, and shipped separatefrom the unit for field installation on the coil, so as tominimize the risk of freight damage.ENVIRO-TEC 21
