4.9.2.5 The surveyed alignment shall be transferred on to the ground asunder:(i)(ii)Reference Pillar and Bench Mark / Reference pillar of size 15 cmX 15 cm X 45 cm shall be cast in RCC of grade M 15 with a nailfixed in the centre of the top surface. The reference pillar shall beembedded in concrete upto a depth of 30 cm with CC M10 (5 cmwide all around). The balance 15 cm above ground shall bepainted yellow. The spacing shall be 250m apart, incase BenchMark Pillar coincides with Reference Pillar, only one of the twoneed be provided.Establishing Bench marks at site connected to GTS Bench marksat a interval of 250 metres on Bench mark pillar made of RCC asmentioned above with RL and BM No. marked on it with redpaint4.9.2.6 Longitudinal and Cross-SectionsThe topographic surveys <strong>for</strong> longitudinal and cross-sections shallcover the following:(i) Longitudinal section levels along final centre line at every 25m interval, at the locations of curve points, small streams,intersections and at the locations of change in elevation.(ii) Cross sections at every 50 m interval in full extent of surveycovering sufficient number of spot levels on existingcarriageway and adjacent ground <strong>for</strong> profile correctioncourse and earth work calculations. Cross sections shall betaken at closer interval at curves.(iii) Longitudinal section <strong>for</strong> cross roads <strong>for</strong> length adequate <strong>for</strong>design and quantity estimation purposes.(iv) Longitudinal and cross sections <strong>for</strong> major and minor streamsas per recommendations contained in IRC SpecialPublication No. 13 (Guidelines <strong>for</strong> the Design of SmallBridges and Culverts) and IRC:5-1998 (“StandardSpecifications & Code of Practice <strong>for</strong> Road Bridges, Section1 - General Features of Design” <strong>for</strong> proposal <strong>for</strong> new bridges/ reconstruction of existing bridges.ADB-IV39
