Computed Radiography (CR)Technological advances make it possible forOceaneering to meet a wide range of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspection applicationswith digital solutions.Computed Radiography systems collect andanalyze all radiographic data replacing therequirement for conventional film and the hazardsand inconveniences associated with ‘wet’processing.Features• Enhanced Contract, Density & Magnification• Accurate Thickness Measurement &Repeatability• Density Profiling• Exposure Latitude Over 1,000 Times Morethan Film Resulting in Few Retakes• Reduced Number of Exposures for Multi-Thickness Section10/12www.oceaneering.com

Computed Radiography (CR)TechniquesFront end technology andequipment is the same asconventional radiography, thedifference is in recording theimage and the use of phosphorscreens. When exposed to X orgamma ray electrons phosphorcrystals are exited and trappedin a semi-stable higher energystate. The radiation exposedflexible phosphor plate isthen processed through alaser scanner, delivering theimage onto a high resolutionmonitor. This digital image canbe enhanced and analyzedwhilst the phosphor screenis automatically erased forimmediate reuse. The imagecan then be interpreted, reported and digitally stored forfuture retrieval or analysis.ApplicationsThe technology can beused for many industrialapplications and particularlycomplements the SmallControlled Area Radiography(SCAR) system to provide asafe, rapid and environmentallyfriendly inspection technique.Applications continue to bedeveloped and to date include:• Weld Inspection• Corrosion Under Insulation(CUI)• Flow Assisted Corrosion,Detection & Measurement• Valve Measurement• Blockages in PipelinesIncluding Subsea ApplicationsAdvantages• Exposure Time Reductionfrom 5 to 20 Times Less thanFilm• Up to 10,000 Times ReusablePhosphor Flexible Plates• No Requirement forDarkroom, Wet ProcessingFacilities or Film• Environmental Benefits• Digital Data InstantlyReviewable Remotely• No Image Degradation OverTime• Annotation of MeasurementsLimitations• Inherent Risks Associatedwith RadiationOceaneering International, Inc. | Asset Integrity | 11911 FM 529 | Houston, TX 77041email: Asset-Integrity@oceaneering.com | oceaneering.com/asset-integrityOCEANEERING ® is a registered trademark of Oceaneering International, Inc.
