<strong>MEMORANDUM</strong><strong>All</strong> <strong>potential</strong> <strong>Candid<strong>at</strong>es</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Employment</strong> <strong>at</strong><strong>LAN</strong> - Capital City Airport in Dewitt, Michigan,FNT - Bishop Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Airport in Flint, Michigan,MBS - MBS Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Airport in Freeland, MichiganTransport<strong>at</strong>ion Security Administr<strong>at</strong>ionMUST READIf you are selected as a part-time Transport<strong>at</strong>ion Security Administr<strong>at</strong>ion (TSA) securitystaff member, you will play a pivotal role in the overall mission of the Department ofHomeland Security (DHS) by contributing to the daily security requirements <strong>at</strong> Lansing’sCapital City, Midland-Bay City-Saginaw, or Flint Bishop Airports.Please take a few moments to read about the following points of interest as they rel<strong>at</strong>e toyour <strong>potential</strong> TSA employment. It is extremely important th<strong>at</strong> you consider andunderstand these aspects of employment be<strong>for</strong>e accepting a position with the TSA.BenefitsMany Federal Employee Benefits are available to part-time employees. For additionaldetails about the complete benefits package available please contact, Susan Wigner, TSAHuman Resources Program Assistant <strong>for</strong> the Lansing Capital Airport systems <strong>at</strong>810.424.0076. R<strong>at</strong>e of pay <strong>for</strong> entry level Transport<strong>at</strong>ion Security Officers <strong>at</strong> the CapitalCity Airport and the MBS Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Airport is $12.74/hour; Bishop Intern<strong>at</strong>ionalAirport $13.74/hour.TrainingOnce hired by TSA, continued employment is contingent upon successful completion ofthe required training.• Required Training – 10 days <strong>for</strong>mal New Employee classroom training• On-the-Job-Training (OJT) – Additional 115 hours, completed <strong>at</strong> the assignedwork site.• It is recommended and is in your best interest to complete the required training inan effective and timely manner as certific<strong>at</strong>ion could be delayed.• Image Mastery Test (IMT)• Baggage Test• Certific<strong>at</strong>ion is awarded upon successful completion of all of the above requiredtraining, IMT and Baggage tests.Training ExpensesExpenses <strong>for</strong> the <strong>for</strong>mal classroom training (lodging accommod<strong>at</strong>ions, funds <strong>for</strong> meals,and incidental expenses) will be provided by TSA. Lodging accommod<strong>at</strong>ions will bepaid in advance by TSA, while meals and incidental expenses will initially be yourresponsibility. Meal and incidental expenses will be reimbursed upon completion of theNew Employee Training through a Travel Voucher process.


<strong>MEMORANDUM</strong>ParkingEmployee parking <strong>at</strong> Lansing Capital and Flint Bishop Airports is available free ofcharge. Employees parking <strong>at</strong> Midland-Bay City-Saginaw Airport are required topurchase a one-time $5.00 parking “pass card” which will be reimbursed upontransfer/separ<strong>at</strong>ion from the airport.ScheduleSchedules are determined by the demands of the individual airport’s dynamic workenvironment. TSA oper<strong>at</strong>es in conjunction with the airport and its airlines. Scheduledshifts will include both weekends and holidays. Your specific schedule will be given toyou <strong>at</strong> the TSA orient<strong>at</strong>ion. However, if you are hired as a Part-Time Employee you maybe assigned a vari<strong>at</strong>ion of one of the following schedules (dependant upon airportloc<strong>at</strong>ion, flight load, passenger flow and oper<strong>at</strong>ional need) and will be required to work16 - 25 hours per week. THE SCHEDULES MIGHT BE (5) 5-HOUR DAYS OR (2)8-HOUR DAYS OR (4) 4-HOUR DAYS FOR EXAMPLE. Scheduling is dependentupon oper<strong>at</strong>ional needs/flight loads.Minor vari<strong>at</strong>ions to start/stop times might be necessary based on the oper<strong>at</strong>ional need ofTSA and the individual airport. Shifts are also assigned through a seniority bid process.Every <strong>at</strong>tempt is made to schedule consecutive days off, however airport conditions maycause alter<strong>at</strong>ions in scheduling.Uni<strong>for</strong>msUni<strong>for</strong>ms are provided to employees by TSA. You will be measured <strong>for</strong> your newuni<strong>for</strong>ms <strong>at</strong> your first orient<strong>at</strong>ion session. It is the responsibility of the employee to arriveto work with a clean and ne<strong>at</strong> uni<strong>for</strong>m and adhere to the TSA Uni<strong>for</strong>m Guidelines.Employees must provide their own black le<strong>at</strong>her shoes with non-slip soles.
