It is extremely important that you consider andunderstand these aspects of employment before accepting a position with the TSA.BenefitsMany Federal Employee Benefits are available to part-time employees. Rate of pay for entry level Transportation Security Officers at the CapitalCity Airport and the MBS International Airport is $12.74/hour; Bishop InternationalAirport $13.74/hour.TrainingOnce hired by TSA, continued employment is contingent upon successful completion ofthe required training.• Required Training – 10 days formal New Employee classroom training• On-the-Job-Training (OJT) – Additional 115 hours, completed at the assignedwork site.• It is recommended and is in your best interest to complete the required training inan effective and timely manner as certification could be delayed.• Image Mastery Test (IMT)• Baggage Test• Certification is awarded upon successful completion of all of the above requiredtraining, IMT and Baggage tests.Training ExpensesExpenses for the formal classroom training (lodging accommodations, funds for meals,and incidental expenses) will be provided by TSA. Lodging accommodations will bepaid in advance by TSA, while meals and incidental expenses will initially be yourresponsibility. Meal and incidental expenses will be reimbursed upon completion of theNew Employee Training through a Travel Voucher process.

MEMORANDUMParkingEmployee parking at Lansing Capital and Flint Bishop Airports is available free ofcharge. Employees parking at Midland-Bay City-Saginaw Airport are required topurchase a one-time $5.00 parking “pass card” which will be reimbursed upontransfer/separation from the airport.ScheduleSchedules are determined by the demands of the individual airport’s dynamic workenvironment. TSA operates in conjunction with the airport and its airlines. Scheduledshifts will include both weekends and holidays. Your specific schedule will be given toyou at the TSA orientation. However, if you are hired as a Part-Time Employee you maybe assigned a variation of one of the following schedules (dependant upon airportlocation, flight load, passenger flow and operational need) and will be required to work16 - 25 hours per week. THE SCHEDULES MIGHT BE (5) 5-HOUR DAYS OR (2)8-HOUR DAYS OR (4) 4-HOUR DAYS FOR EXAMPLE. Scheduling is dependentupon operational needs/flight loads.Minor variations to start/stop times might be necessary based on the operational need ofTSA and the individual airport. Shifts are also assigned through a seniority bid process.Every attempt is made to schedule consecutive days off, however airport conditions maycause alterations in scheduling.UniformsUniforms are provided to employees by TSA. You will be measured for your newuniforms at your first orientation session. It is the responsibility of the employee to arriveto work with a clean and neat uniform and adhere to the TSA Uniform Guidelines.Employees must provide their own black leather shoes with non-slip soles.
