GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS STBDIssue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010GMES-GSEG-EOPG-TN-09-0031page 31 of 60This step generates the cloud and land/water masks at Level-1C geometry. It can beparallelised by Tile3.3.2.2.16 Level-1C Compression: Outer Parallelisation by TileSee § 4.2.2.8.Since the image is split in tiles, instead of generic pieces of image it is convenient parallelisethe processing by Bloc of Target Image (e.g. one tile).3.3.3 SUMMARY OF PROCESSING PERFORMANCE SCALABILITYFIGURESThe analysis of the processing parallelisation opportunities highlights a high scalability of theprocessing flow with respect to performance. The following table sums up for each processing step the parallelisation opportunities andequivalent scalability figure based on the following assumptions:- along-track fragment size = 300km + 10% of margin to avoid artefacts = 330 km;considering that the datastrip to be processed in one station is about 3320 km long(i.e. half an average orbit), a scalability factor of about 10 is obtained.- Bloc of Target Image = 1 tile (100 km square); considering that the datastrip to beprocessed in one station is about 3320 km long, a scalability factor of 33 is obtainedin the along track direction and a factor of 3 in the across track direction.- Normalised number of bands = 4+6x1/4+3x1/36=5.58 as scalability factor for Bandparallelisation to take into account the relative number of pixels in each band. Otherone if not all bands are used.Processing Step Parallelisation Opportunity Scalability FactorMSI Telemetry Analysis By Detector 12Datation By Detector and by Band 12 x 5,58Satellite Ancillary TelemetryAnalysis None -Low Resolution ImageExtractionBy detector, by Band and by Along-Track Fragment 12 x 5,58 x 10Level-0 Viewing ModelInitialisation By Detector and by Band 12 x 5,58Preliminary QuicklookProcessingESA UNCLASSIFIED – For Official UseBy Band and by Along-TrackFragment (4+1/4) x 10Preliminary Cloud MaskProcessing By Along-Track Fragment 10Preliminary QuicklookCompression By Along-Track Fragment 10© ESAThe copyright of this document is the property of ESA.
