Wire roof surfaces should be as horizontal as possible. Enclosures should be welldrained and have furnishings that are easily cleaned. Substrate should be of a materialwhich can be easily replaced to avoid build up of faeces, fungi and moulds. Enclosures should be situated in area of less trafficand noise within the park/zoo. <strong>Owl</strong>s prefer living in a darker environment; enclosureshould face south to avoid north sun directly in enclosure.4.5 Weather ProtectionEnclosures shall include a covered shelter, enclosed by waterproof walls which provideroost security and protection from wind, rain, and extremes in temperature and sunlight(Exhibited Animals Protection Act).16
