In 2001vacancy levels were high in all areas except for generic workers, but the Council is notexperiencing the severe recruitment and retention problems affecting some other councils.Local difficulties include the recruitment of childcare social workers in more isolated areas andof mental health specialists. The problem manifests itself in high turnover and in poor responsesto advertising.52
