In 2001vacancy levels were high in all areas except for generic workers, but the Council is notexperiencing the severe recruitment <strong>and</strong> retention problems affecting some other councils.Local difficulties include the recruitment of childcare social workers in more isolated areas <strong>and</strong>of mental health specialists. The problem manifests itself in high turnover <strong>and</strong> in poor responsesto advertising.52
