392 MY LIFEanother book, neither had I the least idea <strong>of</strong> leavingthe house I was living in, which I had purchased <strong>and</strong>enlarged a few years before. It was under these circumstancesthat a medium I had visited once inwas staying with friends atLondon, Madame G ,Wimborne, <strong>and</strong> came to see me, <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong>fered to giveme a siance. One <strong>of</strong> her controls, an old Scotchphysician, advised me about my health, told me toeat fish, <strong>and</strong> assured me that I was not coming totheir side for some years yet, as I had a good deal <strong>of</strong>work to do here. The other control, named " Sunshine,"an Indian girl, who seemed to be able to getinformation from many sources, was very positiveher statements. She said, "You won't live herealways. You will come out <strong>of</strong> this hole. You willcome more into the world, <strong>and</strong> do something publicfor spiritualism." I replied, " You are quite wrong. Ishall never leave this house now, <strong>and</strong> I shall notappear in public again." But she insisted that shewas right, <strong>and</strong> said, " You will see ;<strong>and</strong> when it comesto pass, remember what I told you." She then said," Fanny [my sister] sends her love. She loved youmore than any one in the world." This I knew to betrue, though during her <strong>life</strong> I did not so fully realizeit. Then Sunshine gave me her parting words, speakingslowly <strong>and</strong> distinctly: "The third chapter <strong>of</strong> your<strong>life</strong>, <strong>and</strong> your book, is to come. It can be expressedas Satisfaction, Retrospection, <strong>and</strong> Work," Thesethree words were spoken very impressively, <strong>and</strong> Iwrote them at once in a small note-book with capitalletters, though I had no notion whatever <strong>of</strong> what theycould refer to, <strong>and</strong> no belief that they would be in anyway fulfilled.Yet two months later the first step in the fulfilmentwas taken though Dr. Lunn's invitation to givein
