LOCKHEED MARTIN BIOMASS ENERGY SOLUTIONS8 Contract with Ocean PowerTechnology (OPT) for the DOE toinstall a PowerBuoy150 off the coast ofReedsport, Ore.8 Contracts with the U.S. Army andU.S. Air Force to design and buildIntelligent Source and Load Managementto enhance energy Security, Surety,Survivability, Supply, Sufficiency andSustainability (Microgrids).8 Energy management, business andinformation technology services to morethan 20 U.S. electric utilities.Corporate CommitmentLockheed Martin is committed toreducing our carbon footprint, conservingnatural resources and using energyefficiently. We strive to use alternativeenergy resources whenever possible, andwe invest in technologies and processimprovements that reduce energy useand greenhouse gas emissions. We alsomonitor emission reductions and developnew strategies based on those results.Since 1995, we’ve reduced productionrelatedhazardous waste by 72 percentand total air emissions by 94 percent. We’ve also substantially reducedgreenhouse gas emissions and waterconsumption. Our reduce, reuse andrecycle and “Go Green” programshave reduced waste sent to communitylandfills and contribute to a sustainableenvironment.Because environmental stewardship isan important part of our commitment tothe communities in which we operate,Lockheed Martin is a member of the EPAClimate Leaders program, a voluntaryindustry-government partnership.Through the Lockheed MartinFoundation, we support programs thatprotect land, water and natural resourcesworldwide and promote environmentaleducation for public schools. For more information about LockheedMartin’s alternative energy generationsolutions, visit www.lockheedmartin.com/us/what-we-do/emerging/alternativerenewable-energy.html.Biomass Energy SolutionsAlternative Energy Technologies that Enhance our Energy SecurityLockheed Martin CorporationMission Systems and Training300 M Street, SEWashington, DC 20003www.lockheedmartin.com/mst/product_contactsCopyright © 2013 Lockheed Martin CorporationAll Rights Reserved.PIRA# MOR201110007

LOCKHEED MARTIN BIOMASS ENERGY SOLUTIONSBiofuel Solutions for a Clean Energy FutureLockheed Martin recognizes our world has limited fossilfuel supplies. By applying engineering excellence andsystems integration expertise, Lockheed Martin supportsdevelopment of clean, secure alternative energy solutions. We act as a leading contractor building next-generationbiomass power generation, biofuels and waste-to-energyfacilities to address our toughest energy challenges.Lockheed Martin has a wealth of experienceinstalling power plants on ships, militarybases and in the commercial sector. Buildingon a long history of providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC)expertise, we work directly with leadingtechnology companies to increase ourrenewable energy supplies. We offer multiple biopower technologies– from conventional boilers and a mobilewaste-to-energy system, to advancedthermo-chemical gasification to produceheat, power and fuels. We work withtechnology partners to provide holisticsystems engineering and integration skillsthat meet our customers’ needs for clean, renewable energy.Lockheed Martin has unmatchedengineering capabilities, and we possessa well-deserved reputation for deliveringcomplex systems on time, within budgetwith the lowest possible execution risk.We work closely with government andcommercial developers to create valuethrough proven experience and a processdrivenapproach. Working alongsidethe project developer, we integratetechnologies that best addresses projectrequirements.Successful Biomass PowerGeneration SystemsLockheed Martin is committed toimproving clean energy technologies, and we are investing in the developmentof renewable energy solutions at ourown facilities. Our Owego, NY, plantuses wood chips and bark from local lumbermills to generate steam for heat, coolingand to provide supplemental electricity. Thebiomass plant, which we operate as part ofour Go Green initiative, has reduced thefacility’s carbon footprint by 9,000 metrictons – or 25 percent, and reduced heatingand cooling costs by 50 percent. In addition, we are building a biomasssteam-generation system at the VeteransAffairs Medical Center in Canandaigua, NY.The system gasifies wood chips in a lowoxygen environment, before burning the gasto produce heat and power. The system willprovide 99 percent of the facility’s heat andsave more than $1 million annually.Large & Small Scale Systems,Commercial & FederalProjectsLockheed Martin was recently selected bythe Defense Logistics Agency to build aprototype system that converts garbage intofuel. This portable waste-to-fuel system usestrash commonly found on military bases, including cardboard, paper, plastic and foodscraps to produce up to 25 gallons of dieselfuel per day.Commercially, we are working with Fortune500 companies, national utilities andprivate developers to create cost-effective,renewable energysolutions. LockheedMartin is committed todelivering solutions thatprovide valuable energywhile reducing carbonemissions.A Record ofSuccessA $40 billion corporation,Lockheed Martin hasa tremendous historyof performance in highly complex,large-scale projects. Our engineershave designed a range of plants, fromsmaller, modular installations to utilityscale plants that can provide morecentralized power to utilities and largeindustrial customers. And we provide thedependability of a large, trusted companynecessary to implement complex solarenergy plants anywhere in the world.Lockheed Martin is leading the way inalternative energy generation throughfederally funded projects and a record ofsuccessful developer partnerships. Somecurrent projects include:8 Installation of biomass steam-generationsystems, most recently at the VeteransAffairs Medical Center in Canandaigua, NY.8 Full-sized concentratedsolar power (CSP) test bed,the Solar System Test andEngineering Site (SolSTES),in Moorestown, NJ.developers as the EPC provider for theProvince of Ontario’s Feed-in-Tariff(FIT) program to advance investment inrenewable energy technologies.8 Feasibility studies focused on theCommunity Feed in Tariff (COMFiT) inNova Scotia.8 Federal Energy ManagementProgram (FEMP) contract holder for theDepartment of Energy (DOE).8 Contracts with the U.S. Navy andDOE to continue development and testingof Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) system components for a largescaleutility plant.8 DOE-qualified Energy ServiceCompany with a super Energy SavingsPerformance Contract (ESPC). LockheedMartin offers multiple financingalternatives for DoD contract types suchas Energy Savings Performance Contracts(ESPCs), Utility Energy ServiceContracts (UESCs) and Power PurchaseAgreements (PPAs).8 Large-scale photovoltaic(PV) system in Moorestownas well as a large-scale PVproject in Hawaii.8 Core design and manufacturingsupport to Atlantis Resources Corporation(ARC) for tidal power generating systems.Selected to install a MK-1000 tidal turbine8 Partnerships with solarfor the Bay of Fundy tidal test bed.
