THE INTERIM CONSTITUTION OF NEPAL, <strong>2063</strong> (<strong>2007</strong>)AS AMENDED BY THE FIRST TO SIXTH AMENDMENTS(12) <strong>The</strong> remuneration and other benefits <strong>of</strong> the Chairperson and members <strong>of</strong>the Constituency Delimitation Commission shall be similar to those <strong>of</strong> ChiefElection Commissioner and Election Commissioner, respectively.(13) <strong>The</strong> Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong> shall provide the required number <strong>of</strong> staff for theConstituency Delimitation Commission.155. Hearing for the <strong>of</strong>ficials <strong>of</strong> constitutional bodies and provisionsregarding citizenship(1) Prior to appointment to constitutional posts on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Constitution</strong>al Council according to this <strong>Constitution</strong>, and to * the appointment<strong>of</strong> the Judges <strong>of</strong> the Supreme Court and ambassadors, there shall be aparliamentary hearing in accordance with the provisions <strong>of</strong> the law.(2) In order to be eligible for appointment to constitutional positions under this<strong>Constitution</strong>, a person must be a citizen <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong> by descent or birth or bynaturalization and have lived in <strong>Nepal</strong> for at least ten years.156. Ratification <strong>of</strong>, accession to, acceptance <strong>of</strong> or approval <strong>of</strong> treatiesor agreements(1) <strong>The</strong> ratification <strong>of</strong>, accession to, acceptance <strong>of</strong> or approval <strong>of</strong> treaties oragreements to which the State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong> or the Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong> is to becomea party shall be as determined by the law.(2) <strong>The</strong> laws to be made pursuant to clause (1) shall, inter alia, require that theratification <strong>of</strong>, accession to, acceptance <strong>of</strong> or approval <strong>of</strong> treaty or agreementson the following subjects be done by a two-thirds majority <strong>of</strong> the total number<strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> the Legislature-Parliament existing:-(a) peace and friendship;(b) security and strategic alliance;(c) the boundaries <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong>; and(d) natural resources and the distribution <strong>of</strong> their uses.Provided that if any treaty or agreement referred in the sub-clauses (a)and (d), is <strong>of</strong> ordinary nature which does not affect the nation extensively,seriously or in the long-term, the ratification <strong>of</strong>, accession to, acceptance <strong>of</strong> orapproval <strong>of</strong> such treaty or agreement may be done at a meeting <strong>of</strong> theLegislature-Parliament by a simple majority <strong>of</strong> the members present.244* Amended on 2064 Jestha 30 (June 13, <strong>2007</strong>) by the <strong>Interim</strong> <strong>Constitution</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nepal</strong> (Second Amendment) Act, 2064,to include reference to appointments <strong>of</strong> judges and ambassadors.
