THE INTERIM CONSTITUTION OF NEPAL, 2063 (2007)AS AMENDED BY THE FIRST TO SIXTH AMENDMENTS(12) The remuneration and other benefits of the Chairperson and members ofthe Constituency Delimitation Commission shall be similar to those of ChiefElection Commissioner and Election Commissioner, respectively.(13) The Government of Nepal shall provide the required number of staff for theConstituency Delimitation Commission.155. Hearing for the officials of constitutional bodies and provisionsregarding citizenship(1) Prior to appointment to constitutional posts on the recommendation of theConstitutional Council according to this Constitution, and to * the appointmentof the Judges of the Supreme Court and ambassadors, there shall be aparliamentary hearing in accordance with the provisions of the law.(2) In order to be eligible for appointment to constitutional positions under thisConstitution, a person must be a citizen of Nepal by descent or birth or bynaturalization and have lived in Nepal for at least ten years.156. Ratification of, accession to, acceptance of or approval of treatiesor agreements(1) The ratification of, accession to, acceptance of or approval of treaties oragreements to which the State of Nepal or the Government of Nepal is to becomea party shall be as determined by the law.(2) The laws to be made pursuant to clause (1) shall, inter alia, require that theratification of, accession to, acceptance of or approval of treaty or agreementson the following subjects be done by a two-thirds majority of the total numberof members of the Legislature-Parliament existing:-(a) peace and friendship;(b) security and strategic alliance;(c) the boundaries of Nepal; and(d) natural resources and the distribution of their uses.Provided that if any treaty or agreement referred in the sub-clauses (a)and (d), is of ordinary nature which does not affect the nation extensively,seriously or in the long-term, the ratification of, accession to, acceptance of orapproval of such treaty or agreement may be done at a meeting of theLegislature-Parliament by a simple majority of the members present.244* Amended on 2064 Jestha 30 (June 13, 2007) by the Interim Constitution of Nepal (Second Amendment) Act, 2064,to include reference to appointments of judges and ambassadors.
