4WirelessModifying Virtual Access Point SettingsTable 10FieldChannelRadio Settings Field DescriptionsDescriptionSelect the Channel.NOTE: If Radio Interface is set to Off, the Channel cannot bechanged. The range of available channels is determined by the mode ofthe wireless radio interface and the country code setting. Ifyou select Auto for the channel setting, the access point scansall available channels, immediately selects a channel, andbegins operation. If interference or errors occur on thatchannel, another channel is automatically selected. The Channel defines the portion of the wireless radiospectrum the wireless radio uses for transmitting andreceiving. Each mode offers a number of channels, dependingon how the spectrum is licensed by national and transnationalauthorities such as the Federal Communications Commission(FCC) or the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R).NOTEAfter you configure the wireless settings, you must click Apply to apply thechanges and to save the settings. Changing some settings might cause the accesspoint to stop and restart system processes. If this happens, wireless clientstemporarily lose connectivity. We recommend that you change access pointsettings when WLAN traffic is low.Modifying Virtual Access Point SettingsTo change VAP 0 or to enable and configure additional VAPs, select the VirtualAccess Points (SSIDs) tab in the Wireless section.VAPs segment the wireless LAN into multiple broadcast domains that are thewireless equivalent of Ethernet VLANs. VAPs simulate multiple access points inone physical access point. The Cisco AP 541N supports up to 16 VAPs.55 Cisco AP 541N Dual-band Single-radio Access Point Quick Start Guide
