7Clustering Multiple Access PointsConfiguring and Viewing Channel Management Settings• Click Start to resume automatic channel assignment. When automatic channel assignment is enabled, the Channel Managerperiodically maps radio channels used by clustered access points and, ifnecessary, re-assigns channels on clustered access points to reduceinterference with cluster members or other access points outside thecluster.• Click Stop to stop automatic channel assignment. (No channel usage mapsor channel re-assignments will be made. Only manual updates will affectthe channel assignment.)NOTEThe proposed channel assignment will not take effect if the Channel field on theWireless Radio page is set to auto. The channel must be set to a static channel.Viewing Current Channel Assignments and Setting LocksThe Current Channel Assignments section shows a list of all access points in thecluster by IP Address. The display shows the band on which each access point isbroadcasting (a/b/g/n), the current channel used by each access point, and anoption to lock an access point on its current radio channel so that it cannot be reassignedto another.Table 38 provides details about Current Channel Assignments.Table 38Channel AssignmentsFieldIP AddressWireless RadioBandChannelDescriptionIP Address for the access point.MAC address of the radio.Band on which the access point is broadcasting.Radio channel on which this access point is currentlybroadcasting.147 Cisco AP 541N Dual-band Single-radio Access Point Quick Start Guide
Clustering Multiple Access PointsConfiguring and Viewing Channel Management Settings7Table 38FieldLockedChannel AssignmentsDescriptionClick Locked to force the access point to remain onthe current channel. When Locked is selected (enabled) for an accesspoint, automated channel management plans do notre-assign the access point to a different channel as apart of the optimization strategy. Instead, accesspoints with locked channels are factored in asrequirements for the plan.If you click Apply, you will see that locked accesspoints show the same channel for the CurrentChannel and Proposed Channel fields. The lockedaccess points keep their current channels.Viewing the Last Proposed Set of ChangesThe Proposed Channel Assignments shows the last channel plan. The planlists all access points in the cluster by IP Address, and shows the current andproposed channels for each access point. Locked channels will not be reassignedand the optimization of channel distribution among access points willtake into account the fact that locked access points must remain on their currentchannels. access points that are not locked may be assigned to different channelsthan they were previously using, depending on the results of the plan.Table 39Last Proposed ChangesFieldIP AddressWireless RadioProposed ChannelDescriptionIP address for the access point.Radio channel on which this access point is currentlybroadcasting.Radio channel to which this access point would bere-assigned if the Channel Plan is executed.Cisco AP 541N Dual-band Single-radio Access Point Quick Start Guide 148
