4. Preferred Options Consultation (2006)
Introduction
4.1 The Preferred Options Paper Core was produced in October 2006,
accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal and Appropriate Assessment,
the documents were published for public consultation for six weeks
starting on Monday 9 October 2006 and ending on Mon 20 November
2006.
4.2 The issues and options from the previous consultations were developed
into policy areas and presented as ‘preferred options’. The Council
indicated it’s broad view on each of these policy areas, and the views of
the public at ‘Issues and Options’ stages had been taken into account.
The Preferred Options Core Strategy was not a ‘draft plan’ but instead, set
out the council’s view on the best way to proceed in the development of
policy.
4.3 The Core Strategy was based around a preferred spatial vision, objectives
and strategies with preferred policy approaches for housing, employment,
biodiversity etc. The structure of the document outlines the preferred
policy approach, the explanation for this and then details the rejected
options for policy area.
4.4 To accompany the Preferred Options Paper a questionnaire was produced
for any member of the public, agent, Statutory Consultees to complete to
enable a collection of public views regarding the Preferred Options for the
future of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
Who was invited to make comments at preferred options stage?
4.5 Appendix 1 contains a list of those people and organisations consulted at
the Preferred Options stage. Broadly, this was all those who were
consulted and who commented at the Issues and Options stage. The
consultees can be grouped into the following respondent categories:

� Parish and Town Councils
� Businesses
� Housebuilders, Landowners and Agents
� National, Regional and Local Government
� Statutory Bodies and Groups
� Local Stakeholder Organisations
� Schools and Youth Groups
