Your favourite part ofnature may be explored by choosingone of our birthday party themesdescribed below.All parties are led by a Kortright NatureGuide, and include a themed hikethrough the forest and naturegames.Each party has an outdoor component.For your comfort, we suggest you dressfor the weather on the day of your visit.Our themed parties are designed forchildren from 6 to 12 years of age.To ensure everyone has an enjoyabletime on their special day, we do requirethe birthday child to be at least 6 yrsold.Loot bags are available through our giftshop on request.Parties are 3 hours in length (2 hourprogram & 1 hour for food and cake)and can be taken between the hours of10:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.Bug Hunt*Age 6 and up.( May - October.)Ambush bugs, TigerBeetles, Dragonflies andPainted Lady Butterflies arejust some of the fascinatinginsects and invertebratesyou may see and learnabout during this hands-onprogram. Girls and boys willbe given the opportunity tocatch, observe and release a variety ofinsects in different habitats.Busy As A Bee*Age 6 and up.. (Mid May - September).Walk to the Bee Space where you canobserve the daily activities of the beesfrom the safety of a screened-inbuilding. The beekeeper will open oneof the hives and showyou “smokers” and“supers” and otherbeekeepingequipment. Exploring Nature Season BySeason*Age 6 and up. (All Year)This seasonally adjustedprogram focuses onthe plants andanimals of Kortright.The many hands-onactivities include naturegames and activities,touching furs andfeathers and hikingthrough Kortright’smany amazinghabitats. Note: Duringthe winter, a snowshoe hike is anavailable option, weather permittingFinding Your Way(All Year)a) Map Reading (Ages 8-9)Learn map basics suchas symbols, grids,and cardinal directions.Have fun plottingpoints on a map froman outside map grid.Practice using acompass.b) Orienteering (Ages 10-12)Practice mapping skills and then workin teams to find your way to controlpoints on the property.Fun Day ActivitiesAge 7 and up. (All Year)Participate in 3 to 4 fun-filled naturegames and/or activities. Activities areseasonal so choose from alist that includes:MarshmallowCookout, NativeActivities, Owls,Ecology Games, Snowshoes, andAnimal Communication etc. Detailsavailable upon booking.Give A HootAge 7 and up. (All Year)Hike through owlterritory and learn to“hoot like an owl”. Be ascientist and dissectowl pellets to seewhat our featheryfriends ate for breakfast.Kite Flying FunAge 8 and up. (AllYear)Come fly a kite!See how we cancapture the wind’senergy to fill apond, generate electricity, or fly a kite.Fly Kortright’s delta kites.Moccasin WalkAge 7 and up. (All Year)Journey back 400years andlearn how theHuronIndians usedthe natural resources. Grind corn, use abow drill to start a fire, and play Nativegames.Wetland DiscoveryAge 7 and up. (Mid April - September)Whether it is a river, marsh,pond or swamp, Kortright’swetlands are fascinatinghabitats. With a dipnet inhand, look for frogs, fish,turtles, invertebrates andmore. Play games and learn what youcan do to save our wetlands.Wildlife Survival GamesAge 7 and up. (All Year)Imagine you are a squirrel, a deer, or arabbit. How would you survive in thewoods? Play a number of activegames that show how animalsmanage to hide, find food,use camouflage, andcommunicate with eachother.BIRTHDAY PARTYBOOKINGINFORMATIONOur Birthday Programs are mostsuitable for groups up to 25 people.The Birthday Party fee is $300.00. Thisfee covers up to 15 people (Childrenand Adults) Any additional children willbe charged $10.00. Any additionaladults above the ratio of 1:5 will becharged $6.50. (i.e. 1 free adult forevery 5 children) We require a 50%deposit at least one month prior to yourvisit. Please be prepared to pay thebalance upon arrival by cash, cheque,or credit cards (Mastercard or Visa).Cancellations are accepted only 15days prior to the event, or thedeposit is non- refundable.Cancellations must be received inwriting.
