The Committeereceived a detailed account of each fatal incidentfrom the relevant BU CEO, together with therelated management response• BU CEOs present to the Committee on allaspects of their units’ S&SD performance ona rotational basis. During 2012, the Committeereceived reports from Kumba Iron Ore, ThermalCoal, Phosphates and Niobium, Exploration,Iron Ore Brazil and Nickel• The Committee discussed a range of topicsrelated to its oversight of S&SD risks, includingmethane and explosive dust control, slopestability, tailings risk and shaft integrity• In recent years, the Committee has invitedits NGO partners, and other third parties withS&SD expertise, to give briefings on areasof interest and to provide a valuable externalperspective on the Group’s performanceand progress. In 2012 the Committeewelcomed presentations from CAREInternational on its health and educationwork in partnership with Anglo American, andfrom PricewaterhouseCoopers on the resultsof their annual audit of the Group’s sustainabledevelopment reporting.100 Anglo American plc Annual Report 2012
