Dept., dated 26.11.2009.* * * * *ORDER:Orders were issued in the G.O 1 st read above to the effect that inthe event of the death of a retired Government employee who is in receipt ofservice pension, a lump sum amount equal to one month’s pension, subjectto a minimum of Rs.150/- shall be payable to the nominee nominated by thePensioner in accordance with the instructions laid down therein.Subsequently, the minimum amount was raised to Rs.500/-, Rs.1000/-,Rs.2000/- and Rs.5000/- in the references 2 nd to 5 th respectively readabove.2. In the reference 6 th read above, orders have been issued extending theabove relief to all the categories of Non-Government Service Pensionerswhose service Pension is being charged to 2071 – Pension & OtherRetirement Benefits.3. In the Government Order 7 th read above, orders were issuedconstituting Ninth Pay Revision Commission and Government appointed SriC.S. Rao, IAS., (Retd.) as Pay Revision Commissioner. In the GovernmentOrder 8th read above, the terms of reference of the Pay RevisionCommissioner were laid down. The Pay Revision Commission submitted itsreport to the Government on 05.12.2009 and recommended, inter alia, tothe effect that:(i) to enhance the minimum relief from Rs.5,000/- to Rs.10,000/-(ii) to extend the similar relief in cases where the spouse of thepensioner pre-deceases the pensioner.

After careful consideration of the report, Government decided toaccept the above recommendations and hereby order that the existingminimum amount of Rs.5,000/- referred to in the G.O. 5 th read above shallbe raised to Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only). Government hereby,also, order that similar relief be extended in cases where the spouse of thepensioner pre-deceases the pensioner. The Pension Disbursing Officersconcerned shall arrange payment of the amount to the nominee or where thenominee predeceased, to the alternative nominee, as far as possible, on thesame day of the death of the Service Pensioner or on the next working dayimmediately following the day of the death of the Pensioner. In case thespouse of the pensioner predeceases, this relief is payable only to the servicepensioner.5. All other conditions and instructions issued in the references readabove shall however continue to be in force. These orders shall apply to thecases of deaths occurred on or after the date of issue of these orders.6.
