DATA SHEETastroTOC UV TURBOTotal Organic CarbonAnalyzerFeatures and BenefitsDesigned for a Variety of Industrial ApplicationsChemical manufacturers, petrochemical plants, and electricutilities require large volumes of clean steam. Use the HachastroTOC UV TURBO Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzerto continuously monitor the steam in co-generationarrangements after use in one facility and before it reachesturbines/equipment of the partner facility. The astroTOC UVTURBO analyzer is also recommended for semiconductorapplications to measure TOC levels in recycle/reclaim water, pharmaceutical applications and other purified waterapplications.Total Organic CarbonFastest True TOC Analyzer with AccuratePerformanceThe astroTOC UV TURBO analyzer is fast—accurate resultsare made in five minutes. Other analyzers that measure TOCwith differential conductivity can be inaccurate because twomeasurements must be made (total carbon (TC) and totalinorganic carbon (TIC)). The astroTOC UV TURBO analyzerremoves the TIC from the sample so it only measures trueTOC as described by ASTM, EPA, ISO, and StandardMethods. High levels of TOC do not require increasedanalysis time because samples are monitored continuously.Proven NDIR TechnologyASTM, EN, EPA, ISO and Standard Methods recommendTOC analysis methods using NDIR detection. Using NISTtraceable gas standards, the NDIR detector provides astable TOC measurement. The zero or baseline is adjustedevery time the instrument is calibrated, which increasesmeasurement stability and avoids drift. Each NDIR detectormust endure a stringent two-week stability test before itleaves the factory, ensuring a robust, stable detector.Multi-point Calibration Compensates forBackground TOCOn-site calibrations can be made at any time to avoiddowntime. An advanced calibration utility offers a multi-point(up to ten) calibration. The TOC-added calibrationcompensates for the TOC background usually found inmake-up water. This type of calibration is necessary whenmeasuring low levels when the unknown carbon species inthe DI water is significant. The analyzer calculates thecalibration curve slope and adjusts the slope so the line isforced through zero, allowing accurate low-levelmeasurements.The Hach astroTOC UV TURBO Total Organic Carbon Analyzeris the fastest true TOC analyzer with accurate performance.Sample composition and oxidation by-products will not interferewith measurements. It also offers advanced diagnosticsand other features designed for easy use.Spacious, Robust EnclosureThe large two compartments that house the electronics andfluidics make maintenance easy. An IP66/NEMA 4 ratedenclosure withstands harsh industrial environments. Thedual compartments ensure that any leaks in the fluidicsystem will not damage the electrical components.Easy to Use Advanced Diagnostics and FeaturesAdvanced diagnostics monitor general system conditions—including loss of sample flow, loss of carrier gas, pump tubedeterioration, and a programmable process spill threshold, which protects the analyzer from fluid blockage andpollution due to over-range conditions. User-assigned relayscan be used to select diagnostics or system functions.Auto-cleaning, auto-validation, and auto-calibration can bescheduled. Validation is a simple single-point QA/QC checkto assess system performance.WWIWDW = drinking water WW = wastewater municipal PW = pure water / powerIW = industrial water E = environmental C = collections FB = food and beverage

Subsequently, the TIC-free sample isdrawn at an accelerated rate, mixed with sodium persulfate, and routed through the UV reactor. The residence time in theUV reactor is optimized to assure full oxidation of the TOC intoCO 2 . The gas/liquid mixture is transported by the carrier gasinto the gas-liquid separator (GLS), where the sample gas isseparated and diverted into the NDIR detector for the direct,interference-free CO 2 measurement. The resulting CO 2concentration measurement is directly proportional to theoriginal TOC concentration found in the sample.Engineering Specifications1.
