4SOLUTIONS FOR ROOF LEAK PROBLEMSFor all types of roofsGood roofing practice allows penetration movementindependent of the roof. This requires a flexible sealat the penetration and proper attachment to the roof. With the complexity and assortment of roofing systemsavailable today, a variety of designs is required towork with all conditions. A good flashing system mustbe versatile- economical- maintenance free- simple toinstall- adapt to multiple penetrations and angle ironsyet, have uniformity allowing fast, easy installationand specification. All components must be weatherresistant, approved by the industry, and, above all, eliminate leaks. For these reasons, Portals Plus offers thefollowing products.Sources of TroubleDisadvantages• Very costly• Pipe projection not sealed• Limited pipe direction• Does not allow for movement• Temporary seal• Continual maintenance• Major cause of roof damagePitch PocketField Fabricated HoodRealistic AnswersAdvantages• Allows penetration movement• Maintenance free• Economical and uniform• Accommodates multiple projections• No need to disconnect lines• Eliminates leaks• Permanent• Simple and fast to installRetrofit FlashingAlumi-FlashRoof leaks are the biggest problem of architects andbuilding owners. Extreme roof temperature changesrequire durable and flexible flashings. The NationalRoofing Contractors Association states: "Pitch pockets orpans by their design, are not intended to be continuouslywatertight. Their use should not be encouraged sincebetter methods are available to accomplish the sameend. Pitch pans or pockets require frequent inspectionand maintenance, and usually a great deal of damagecan occur before the leak around a pitch pan or pocketis evident."

RETROFIT FLASHINGSFor existing penetrations that can not be disconnectedThe Retrofit Flashing offers a quick and easy installation, eliminating roof leaks at pipes and other roof penetrationswithout disconnecting the penetration. However, theRetrofit still allows for movement between the penetrationand roof, while maintaining a perfect seal. The perfectseal is achieved with an integral tongue and grooveclosure, plus an overlapping flap, and is mechanicallyfastened with stainless steel hardware, which is included.Retrofit Flashings are available in EPDM (EthylenePropylene Diene Monomer) for single-ply roofing andNeoprene for built-up asphalt, coal tar pitch, modifiedbitumen and cold process systems. Both materials haveexcellent resistance to ozone and ultraviolet degradationand a serviceable temperature range of -60° F to +270° F.There are two Retrofits available: Small, for pipes up to 3",and Large for pipes 3.5" through 6". The Retrofit Flashingsalso have the added benefit of a variety of adapter ringsallowing for even greater versatility. By using the RetrofitAdapter Rings, projections with unusual shapes can beflashed in a positive and secure manner.Adapters available to fitmost Retrofit FlashingsRound Adapters.375" to 3.5"Angle Iron1.00", 1.75", 3", 4"Square Tube3" and 4"U.S. PAT. 4211423 CAN. DECK-MATESFlashings for metal roof and wall systemsThe Deck-Mate flashing incorporates a stepped profilewhich creates a compression seal between the schedule40 piping and the flashing. Deck-Mates are designed withproper reinforcing ribs to allow the flashing to maintainrigidity and the shape of the product. By combining thestepped profile and the reinforcing ribs, the product willproperly accommodate the use of a stainless steel clamp. The clamp is crucial in maintaining a water-tight seal foryears to come. All other products on the market incorporate the useof caulk to seal the penetration. The National RoofingContractor Association states, in their better roofingpractices, that caulk should never be used as a primarysealer of a penetration. The Deck-Mates are designed to accommodateprojections from .125"-26" in diameter and work inconjunction with any configuration of corrugated metalroof. The product is engineered to incorporate a deadsoft aluminum flange that bends to any contour, roofirregularity or pitch. Deck-mate is available in two styles, the standard for normal penetration, and Retrofit forpiping that can not be disconnected. Flashings are alsoavailable in two materials, standard EPDM, and hightemperature Silicone.ABCADEFBGAll sizes shown are in inchesDM0 DM1 DM2 DM3 DM4 DM5 DM6 DM7 DM8 DM9 DM100.3 0.5A0.8 - 1.0 0.5 - 0.71.1 - 1.3 0.7 - 1.10.1 - 0.9 1.1 - 1.3B 1.4 - 1.7 1.45 - 1.65 1.3 - 1.65 3.25 - 4.25 4.2 - 5.4 5.4 - 6.4 6.4 - 7.4 7.4 - 8.4 10.5 - 12.5 12.5 x 13.8C 1.8 - 2.3 2.1 - 2.6 2.1 - 2.6 4.25 - 5.3 5.4 - 6.4 6.4 - 7.4 7.4 - 8.4 8.4 - 9.4 12.5 x 13.8 13.8 x 15.8D 2.6 - 3.25 3.25 - 4.25 5.3 - 6.4 6.4 - 7.4 7.4 - 8.4 8.4 - 9.4 9.4 - 10.5 13.8 - 15.8 15.8 x 17.8E 6.4 - 6.9 7.4 - 8.4 8.4 x 9.4 9.4 - 10.5 10.5 - 11.5 15.8 - 17.8 17.8 x 19.8F 10.5 - 11.5 11.5 - 12.5 19.8 x 25.8G2.25 x2.255 x 5 6.25 x 6.25 7.6 x 7.6 9.7 x 9.7 12.3 x 12.3 12.3 x 12.3 17 x 1718.2 x18.224.8 x 24.8 30.2 x 30.2Furnish and install the Portals Plus Deck-Mate asmanufactured by Portals Plus, Inc., Grand Rapids, MI, atall points where pipes 26" or less penetrate the metal roofand wall system. REROOF DRAINSDrain inserts for retrofit applicationsPortals Plus also offers the ReRoof drain with a rubberseal that requires NO TOOLS to activate. The seal isinstantaneous as the ReRoof Drain is inserted into theexisting pipe. Years of research and testing have resultedin this unique seal that becomes tighter as water pressureincreases from backups. Testing done by the engineeringfirm that designs seals for America’s deep-diving nuclearsubmarines proved that it withstands over a 50-footpressure head of water, both with slow increases inpressure and sudden surges from 0 to 50 feet. The sealwas found to resist leaking better than cast iron pipe.During the testing, the cast iron pipe developed porosityleakage from the 50-foot pressure head, but the sealheld tight.
