The cognitive processes of taking IELTS Academic Writing Task 1Task Personal interpretations and comments ParticipantA:InstructionsUnfortunately, China is the second country after America, over 3.47 million thousand metrictonnes of CO2 emissions. In the map the area of China is described in light green. ….Hopefully the color of China would turn into dark green in the future. It is astonishing that Japan ranks 4th, since its total area of the country is not very large, compared to the countries rank at the tops.… and all of the top 8 countries of CO2 emission are developed countries except China andIndia (involving knowledge about developed and developing countries)The most contribution of CO2 output countries are located in north America and Asia.(involving prior knowledge about continent)In the chart, we can see that the countries which have fewer instruction hours like in NorthEurope, such as Finland, Norway, Sweden and so on”. (involving prior knowledge aboutgeography)From the chart, the top three countries Finland, Norway and Sweden are all from the NorthEurope. These countries all do very well in instructing the children in public institutions. Sothe children can meet less problem when they are in these public institutions with no adults.(involving prior knowledge, but wrong interpretation re: with no adults)So I think if we want the children to do more instructions, we should encourage them to doit when they are at the earlier ages from 7-8, since maybe earlier will be better. (personaljudgement and evaluation)So the hours shows a steady increase in these 3 age groups, which shows a quickdevelopment in the ability of acceptable learning time of children.A: Oil Last, I want talk about the Iraq, because of the Iraq War. There is a big growth from 2007 to2008. I think, after the Iraq War, US imported more oil from Iraq.First, I see there are both developed and developing countries above.Canada is US’s neibough, so the US imports the largest crude oil from Canada… The USimports more crude oil from American countries than those from other continents, especiallythose from Middle East, or Africa. There are not many European countries which havecrude oil exports to the US, China, neither. Maybe the transport cost is very high, if the USwants to import crude oil from these countries or because these countries have no crude oilproduction. However, the earlier the data is the bigger the disturbances are, which means economies indifferences changes differently, some developed fast and so they need more oil and somedeveloped slow, so they don’t need as much oil as others did. (wrong interpretation of thedata: considering countries importing oil)There are some countries like Colombia, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Chad import crule oils evenless than 200, I think there’re some reasons. One is that they are not very developed, asthose countrys like Canada, and the other, they also can not provide enough crude oil withtheir industry. They’re not rich, they don’t have enough money to import the crude oil. I justskip the Venezula, I’m not familiar with it. And its statits is similar with Mexio, so I concludethat, there are three or four groups. One is that they import larger than 1000, one is thatthey import less than 200, the other is that they import between 200 and 100. Differentreasons and facets in different countries cause the differences. For example, the Canadaand Saudi Arabia import large every year, because they are well-developed country, andthey have modern industry, which need more crude oil. And another example is Russia, it isalso the developed country, but it has its own crude oil field and it doesn’t need to import asmuch as Canada. And the third example is, I find that country, the Chad, the small countrywith poor industry, they don’t have to import many crude oil, its industry can’t consume asmany oil as Canada.
