ABSTRACTJV was a more then 20 years old joint-ventured <strong>of</strong>fshore <strong>survey</strong> <strong>co</strong>mpany inChina providing positioning, ROV and <strong>co</strong>nstruction support servicesprimarily to the local oil and gas industries. The <strong>co</strong>mpany had built areputable stand in the local DGPS positioning market. However, the<strong>co</strong>mpany was facing revenue descendant due to fierce <strong>co</strong>mpetition,especially in the ROV and <strong>co</strong>nstruction support market. The weak andintense <strong>co</strong>mpetition found in the domestic market had led to a disputebetween both the parent <strong>co</strong>mpanies over the future direction <strong>of</strong> JV. Failure toalign both <strong>co</strong>mpanies towards a same objective paralyzed the <strong>co</strong>mpany'soperation.The purpose <strong>of</strong> this <strong>study</strong> is to renew JV's strategic focus by identifying its<strong>co</strong>re <strong>co</strong>mpetencies, threats, and untapped potential markets to increase andsustain the <strong>co</strong>mpany's revenue growth in years to <strong>co</strong>me.
