Module Replacement ProgramBecause of the “single joint” design of the Sensusresidential meter, easy replacement of all internalworking parts is possible. A new measuring modulecan be installed simply by removing and replacingseveral screws.Listed below are the modules available for ourcurrent line of residential meters. They are availablein standard or temperature compensatedconstruction and can be inserted into existing bodiesand covers and calibrated in your shop.This program is important in your long-rangeplanning. It means that the Sensus meters youpurchase today can be updated to new conditionyears from now at about two-thirds of the costof new meters.Consider updating your meter population at afraction of the cost of new meters. Temperature CompensationResidential Gas Meterstemperature variations, causing expansion or contractionof the bi-metallic element, alter the volume of gasdisplaced per revolution of the meter. This automaticallycauses the meter to speed up or slow down as requiredand does not affect valve timing.The Sensus TC element ensures stable meter operationand accurate correction for gas temperature variations.All Sensus residential gasmeters can be equipped with a bi-metallic element thatwill automatically correct for changes in gas temperatureand convert line volumes to the common basetemperature of 60° F.The fundamental difference in a temperaturecompensatedmeter is the tangent. It features twinbi-metallic elements as the active or compensatingmembers. The tangent is mounted in such a way thatA temperature compensated meter can be outwardlyidentified by a difference in the manufacturer’s badgecolor along with a “TC” notation on both the badge andthe meter index. Standard meters have blue badges.TC metes have red manufacturer’s badges.The typical temperature compensation performance iswithin an accuracy band of ± 2% over a flowing gastemperature range of -20° F to 120° F.Test MetersSensus Test Meters are applicable where minute quantitiesof gas must be measured with a high degree of accuracy.They are used in factories, showrooms, laboratories,and various testing departments. Some utilities usethem to demonstrate to customers the amount of gasconsumed by ranges, furnaces, clothes dryers, andother gas appliances.One of the more popular uses of the test meter hasbeen in the area of pollution control. The EnvironmentalProtection Agency has set standards of performance forlimiting gaseous and particulate emissions from factories.Test Meter Models AvailableModelCapacity – SCFH of 0.6specific gravity gas @ w.c. diff.Federal, state and local pollution control authorities havediscovered a need for dependable precision instrumentsto sample and evaluate pollutants. Sensus Test Metersare being used extensively in stack sampling andpollution monitoring devices.OperationAll Sensus Test Meters are equipped with a special testindex. This test index has a sweep hand which can becompared to the sweep hand on a stopwatch. Minuteamounts of flow are precisely measured on the finelygraduated sweep hand circle.
