Its durable constructionpermits operation up to 2" w.c. differential to provide900 CFH of 0.6 specific gravity gas.#415415 SCFHNote:All capacities are maximum, based on 0.6 specific gravity gas measured at 4 oz. base pressureand 60° F at 1/2" w.c. differential pressure – in accordance with B109.1 specifications.Recommended meter operating temperature range:-30° F to +150° F. See temperature compensation description page 7.3

Design Features1. Temperature Compensation Element –a design with increased strength tominimize deflection from valve drag, the TC element is more rugged andlinear in movement, thus, moreaccurate in compensation.2. Crank Bracket – a simplified multipurposedesign incorporating internalvalve guides and index shaft support.Fine tolerance, attained throughprecision molding, provides accuratepositioning of the crank support.Low friction polymer eliminates theneed for lubrication.3. Valve Seat – close tolerances achievedthrough molded phenolic constructionminimize seat wear while providing amuch smoother operation with asignificantly lower differential.Incorporates easily installed externalvalve guides.4. Valve Cover and Links – precisionparts of engineered plastic materialsreduce friction and are inert tochemicals and condensates commonlyfound in gas lines. Simple snap-ondesign with common left and rightlink reduces your parts inventory. This design reduces the job ofvalve replacement.5. Index Drive Shaft – molded “dog”locks to brass index shaft eliminating“slop” often encountered in proving.6. Gaskets – are made of tough, resilientcork and neoprene composition andthe linear amount of gasket is anabsolute minimum due to “single-joint”design. This significantly reduces thechance of leakage.127341568910114

7. Synthetic Rubber Glands – in thecover stuffing box and in the valveplate to seal the flag rods assurepositive pressure sealing at thesecritical points. The gland designproduces pressure integrity witha minimum amount of drag.8. One Piece Flag Rod – closelycontrolled dimensions improveparallelism of all vertical segments.Greater distance between bearingpoints has been designed to providelateral stability. Easy to positionand install.9. Molded Port & Pan –with IntegralDiaphragm Stabilizers – one piececonstruction of glass fiber reinforcedmaterial, increases strength andeliminates a potential leak point.Integral stabilizers provide positivepositioning of the diaphragm assembly.10. E-Clips – plated steel clips installeasily, facilitate repairs, and minimizeparts inventory.Residential Gas Meters11. Bodies and Covers – are of die-castaluminum alloy to provide corrosionprotection with minimum weight.Meters receive both prime and finishcoats of paint to provide additionalprotection and enhance exteriorappearances.2 3 45Gland6 789 10115

Module Replacement ProgramBecause of the “single joint” design of the Sensusresidential meter, easy replacement of all internalworking parts is possible. A new measuring modulecan be installed simply by removing and replacingseveral screws.Listed below are the modules available for ourcurrent line of residential meters. They are availablein standard or temperature compensatedconstruction and can be inserted into existing bodiesand covers and calibrated in your shop. This program is important in your long-rangeplanning. Temperature CompensationResidential Gas Meterstemperature variations, causing expansion or contractionof the bi-metallic element, alter the volume of gasdisplaced per revolution of the meter. This automaticallycauses the meter to speed up or slow down as requiredand does not affect valve timing. The Sensus TC element ensures stable meter operationand accurate correction for gas temperature variations. All Sensus residential gasmeters can be equipped with a bi-metallic element thatwill automatically correct for changes in gas temperatureand convert line volumes to the common basetemperature of 60° F.The fundamental difference in a temperaturecompensatedmeter is the tangent. It features twinbi-metallic elements as the active or compensatingmembers. The tangent is mounted in such a way thatA temperature compensated meter can be outwardlyidentified by a difference in the manufacturer’s badgecolor along with a “TC” notation on both the badge andthe meter index. Standard meters have blue badges.TC metes have red manufacturer’s badges. The typical temperature compensation performance iswithin an accuracy band of ± 2% over a flowing gastemperature range of -20° F to 120° F.Test MetersSensus Test Meters are applicable where minute quantitiesof gas must be measured with a high degree of accuracy. They are used in factories, showrooms, laboratories, and various testing departments. Some utilities usethem to demonstrate to customers the amount of gasconsumed by ranges, furnaces, clothes dryers, andother gas appliances. One of the more popular uses of the test meter hasbeen in the area of pollution control. The EnvironmentalProtection Agency has set standards of performance forlimiting gaseous and particulate emissions from factories.Test Meter Models AvailableModelCapacity – SCFH of 0.6specific gravity gas @ w.c. diff.Federal, state and local pollution control authorities havediscovered a need for dependable precision instrumentsto sample and evaluate pollutants. Sensus Test Metersare being used extensively in stack sampling andpollution monitoring devices.OperationAll Sensus Test Meters are equipped with a special testindex. This test index has a sweep hand which can becompared to the sweep hand on a stopwatch.
