AcknowledgementThe idea to produce a publication on basic features of the Non-ProfitSector in Kenya evolved from the realisation that past studies have notprovided a comprehensive picture of the sector. The lack of informationon the basic features of the sector has contributed to the sectorremaining least understood. Not even practitioners in the sector areaware about the size, structure and scope of the non-profit sector inKenya. We embarked on this mission with generous support andadvice of the Aga Khan Development Network (Geneva), throughRichard Holloway, the Civil Society Director. We are grateful toRichard, and Aga Khan Development Network AKDN, for this.Collection and analysis of data on which this publication is based hasbeen a challenging task.
