5.4.3. Terrestrial faunaDescription of environmental valuesDescribe the terrestrial and riparian fauna occurring in the areas affected by theproposal, noting the broad distribution patterns in relation to vegetation, topographyand substrate. The description of the fauna present or likely to be present in the areashould include:• species diversity (i.e. a species list) and abundance of animals of recognisedsignificance• any species that are poorly known but suspected of being EVNT• habitat requirements and sensitivity to changes, including movement corridors andbarriers to movement• existence (actual or likely) of any species/communities of conservation significancein the study area, including discussion of range, habitat, breeding, recruitment, feeding and movement requirements, and current level of protection (e.g. anyrequirements of protected area management plans or threatened species recoveryplans)• an estimate of commonness or rarity for the listed or otherwise significant species• use of the area by coastal/marine birds, migratory birds, nomadic birds andterrestrial fauna• the existence of feral or introduced animals including those of economic orconservation significance.Identify any species listed by the EPBC Act and the NC Act occurring in the projectarea.Identify any species listed by the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport andRacing (DNPRSR) ‘Back on Track’ species prioritisation methodology (seewww.derm.qld.gov.au/wildlife-ecosystems/wildlife/back_on_track_species_prioritisation_framework/index.html).Indicate how well any affected communities are represented and protected elsewherein the bio-region where the project occurs. Specify the methodology used for faunasurveys.Provide relevant site data to DNPRSR in a format compatible with the Wildlife Onlinedatabase for listed threatened species (see www.derm.qld.gov.au/wildlifeecosystems/wildlife/wildlife_online/index.html).Potential impacts and mitigation measuresAssess the potential impacts the project may have on terrestrial fauna, relevant wildlifehabitat and other fauna conservation values, including:• impacts due to loss of habitat, range, food supply, nest sites, breeding or recruitingpotential, movement corridors, or as a result of hydrological change• impacts on native species, particularly species of conservation significance• cumulative effects of direct and indirect impacts- 40 - Contents of the EISDudgeon Point Coal Terminals ProjectTerms of reference for an environmental impact statement
