• measures to limit erosion and sediment re-suspension in discharge channels• contingency measures in the event that discharge limits are exceeded• management, maintenance and landscaping of the disposed dredge spoil’s finalform.Describe how nominated water quality objectives will be monitored, audited andmanaged, with reference to a REMP.5.4. Nature conservationDetail the existing nature conservation values that may be affected by the proposal interms of:• biological diversity, including state and Commonwealth listed species• habitats of endangered, vulnerable, near-threatened (EVNT) and migratory species• aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems• integrity of ecological processes• conservation of resources.Survey effort should be sufficient to identify, or adequately extrapolate, the floral andfaunal values over the range of seasons, particularly during and following a wetseason. The survey should account for the ephemeral nature of watercoursestraversing the project area, and seasonal variation in fauna populations such asmigratory birds and marine megafauna.Wherever possible, seek the involvement of the local Indigenous community inconducting field observations and survey activities to identify the traditional andcontemporary Indigenous uses of species.Outline the proposed strategies to avoid, or minimise and mitigate, impacts on theidentified values within the project’s footprint.Identify key flora and fauna indicators for ongoing monitoring.5.4.1. Sensitive environmental areasDescription of environmental valuesIdentify areas that are environmentally sensitive within the study area in proximity tothe project site on a map of suitable scale. This should include areas classified ashaving national, state, regional or local biodiversity significance, or flagged as importantfor their integrated biodiversity values. Refer to both Queensland and AustralianGovernment legislation and policies on threatened species and ecologicalcommunities.Areas regarded as sensitive, with respect to flora and fauna, with one or more of thefollowing features should be identified and mapped:• important habitats of species that are listed under the NC Act as ‘extinct in the wild’or EVNT• regional ecosystems (REs) listed as ‘endangered’ or ‘of concern’ under the VM ActContents of the EISDudgeon Point Coal Terminals ProjectTerms of reference for an environmental impact statement- 35 -
