In locations where the age and type <strong>of</strong> geology is such that significant fossil specimensmay be uncovered during construction and operation, address the potential forsignificant finds.Survey, describe and map the soils <strong>of</strong> sites affected by the project at a suitable scale inaccording to the Guidelines for Surveying Soil and Land Resources (McKenzie et al.2008) and Australian soil classification (Isbell & CSIRO 2002).Provide information on the physical and chemical properties <strong>of</strong> the materials that mayinfluence erosion and water quality, and the discuss stability and suitability <strong>of</strong> soils forthe construction <strong>of</strong> project components.Assess the potential for acid sulfate soils in accordance with:• <strong>Queensland</strong> Acid Sulfate Soil Technical Manual (see:www.derm.qld.gov.au/land/ass/products)• State Planning Policy 2/02: Planning and Managing Development Involving AcidSulfate Soils (Department <strong>of</strong> Natural Resources and Mines & Department <strong>of</strong> LocalGovernment and Planning 2002a)• State Planning Policy 2/02 Guideline: Acid Sulfate Soils (Department <strong>of</strong> NaturalResources and Mines & Department <strong>of</strong> Local Government and Planning 2002b).Assess each soil’s agricultural land suitability in accordance with:• Guidelines for agricultural land evaluation in <strong>Queensland</strong> (Department <strong>of</strong> PrimaryIndustries 1990)• Planning guidelines: the identification <strong>of</strong> Good Quality Agricultural Land (Department<strong>of</strong> Primary Industries & Department <strong>of</strong> Housing, Local Government and Planning1993)• State Planning Policy 1/92: Development and the Conservation <strong>of</strong> Agricultural Land(Department <strong>of</strong> Primary Industries & Department <strong>of</strong> Housing, Local Government andPlanning 1992).Identify any areas <strong>of</strong> land within the project study area identified as strategic croppingland or potential strategic cropping land (SCL) as identified by the Strategic CroppingLand Act 2011 (Qld)(SCL Act) trigger maps (seewww.derm.qld.gov.au/land/planning/strategic-cropping/mapping.html)Identify any exemptions under the SCL Act or State Planning Policy 1/12: Conservation<strong>of</strong> Strategic Cropping Land (Department <strong>of</strong> Environment and Resource Management2012b) that apply to Strategic Port Land.Potential impacts and mitigation measuresProvide details <strong>of</strong> any potential impacts to the topography or geomorphologyassociated with the project, and proposed mitigation measures, including:• any land units requiring specific management measures, and the nature <strong>of</strong> thosemanagement measures• a discussion <strong>of</strong> the project in the context <strong>of</strong> major topographic features and anymeasures taken to avoid or minimise impact to such, if requiredContents <strong>of</strong> the EISDudgeon Point Coal Terminals Project<strong>Terms</strong> <strong>of</strong> reference for an environmental impact statement- 29 -
