OBAN & LORNFAIRTRADESTEERING GROUPThe Fairtrade Steering Group aims to:• provide local residents <strong>and</strong>community groups in <strong>Oban</strong> <strong>and</strong> Lornwith information about fair trade• work with local schools to supporttheir work towards Fairtrade Schoolstatus• encourage businesses <strong>and</strong> faithgroups to use Fairtrade products• help organise Fairtrade promotionalevents, working with the ScottishFair Trade Forum to bring producersto visit local community groups <strong>and</strong>schools, especially during the annualFairtrade FortnightHighlights from a busy year for the SteeringGroup in 2011 included Fairtrade Fortnight,schools work <strong>and</strong> a joint InternationalWomen’s Day event.find out moreThe Steering Group was formed in2005 with the aim of making <strong>Oban</strong> aFairtrade Town, which was achieved in2006. OBAN & LORNFAIRTRADE NEWSPARK PRIMARYGOES FAIRTRADE!Park Primary School in <strong>Oban</strong> gainedFairtrade Status in September 2011after 18 months of hard work - includingtaking part in the Fairtrade Foundationworld record attempt to create thelongest piece of bunting in the worldusing Fairtrade cotton.Pupils from Park Primary meeting RaymondKimaro, a coffee farmer from Tanzania.FAIRTRADENATION 2012?2012 will see the Scottish Fair TradeForum submitting its bid for Scotl<strong>and</strong>to be recognised as a FairtradeNation.
